Chapter 12| He didn't change. Or did he?

*Camp Jupiter, Oakland Hills*

|Hazel Levesque|

I dodged another up-coming attack as I wielded the mist to confuse the monster. He looked at me disorientated, and I quickly took that to my advantage. I dug my spatha into its chest, and the creature immediately dissolved into dust.

I looked around, noticing most of my friends were also engaged in battle. Frank had, once again, managed to summon his un-dead roman warriors, who were fighting by his side. Jason was flying in the air, throwing lighting bolts at his different opponents and Leo was throwing fire balls. Annabeth fought like a demon: swaying in between the different monsters and doing long gashes along their skin. Piper was also fighting with her dagger, Katoptris, and I could see her mouth moving, probably because she was using charmspeak.

Nico was nowhere in sight, but the different skeletons walking around told me he couldn't be that far away.

Reyna was on top of a Pegasus, occasionally flying down to combat monsters, but I noticed that concerned glint in her eyes: concerned about her campers.

Camp Half-Blood and the Roman legion fought together, everyone with the same objective in mind: save Camp Jupiter.

If I had known we were going to be attacked just a few hours before, I knew we would have called for back-up immediately and started putting stances, preparing ourselves for a battle.

But that didn't happen. We were practically ambushed, in the middle of the afternoon. Our guards were quick to warn the cohorts and New Rome, and thankfully we were equipped in just a few minutes, but Camp Half-Blood was a bit late. In fact, they arrived like five minutes ago, even though a passage in between the camps was made.

I continued to fight some monsters, until I realized I could use some help.

"ARION!", I screamed with all my might, hoping the Pegasus heard me. I turned around, frantically looking for my friend, but didn't find anything.

Just as I was about to go back to battle, a brown horse appeared by my side, and I felt a wide grin displaying across my face.

I quickly jumped onto Arion and ordered him to start running. I held tightly onto him while raising my spatha onto the air. As we passed monsters, the blade of my spatha would go right through them, turning them into dust.

We continued like that for a couple of minutes, until the battle finally ended. Fortunately, it was our side who won it.

Cheers erupted around the land, while mixing with continuous sobs, probably from those who lost loved ones. I couldn't help but feel quite uneasy about that: I was worried about my friends, but I knew they could manage pretty good on their own.

Just as I got off my horse, he flew away, disappearing into the sky. Frank immediately approached me running, only a few visible injuries along his body. Concern was written across his features, but it was obvious he felt a rush of relief as soon as he saw me.

"You're okay? Nothing major?", he asked me as he arrived. I shook my head and smiled at him.

"A few scratches, but nothing to worry about", I waved off.

The next few minutes were about checking all the injured demigods, and taking damage control. Fortunately, New Rome was intact, thanks to Terminus and the border patrol, so the citizens there were safe.

However, as soon as Annabeth approached us, I knew there were bad news.

"The attack wasn't a causality, obviously", she stated. "We will have to increase the training hours as well as the guarding stances. The gods have been contacted about the matter. Reyna decided we will hold a meeting tomorrow at the Forum, with centurions and greek counselors. She wants to start with battle strategy right away, and so do I"
