The Encounter
MEMO:
EVERYBODY IS INVITED TO ATTEND A SHORT GATHERING IN GLASSTONE HALL.
“Janice, what is this about? I’ve just seen this memo. Caleb handed this to me when I got here.”
“Oh, lesbo, I forgot to give it to you yesterday. “
“Quit calling me with that. What’s this for?”
“Beats me.”
Janice was still the worst and the most diabolical secretary I had ever met in this goddamn world. She always ticked me off. She always bugged me of her facial gestures that I really wished to smash.
“Hey, lesbo, what a nice outfit! Where are you heading to? To a funeral? You should have worn something so elegant for today because today was a big day.” She smirked at me and rolled her eyes while brushing her long, silky blonde hair.
Janice never missed dissing my outfit every day and today was the 385 times that she came hard on it. Well, I didn’t care about her opinion at all. I just shook it off as usual. Anyway, I liked my outfit today. I was wearing knee length black pants, plain white tee with a black suede bomber blazer on and of course, I wore my perfect black top-sider flats. I looked decent, corporate and awesome. I still got a swag on this outfit. On the other hand, compared to Janice, Janice was inevitably stunning on her ash gray lacy body hugging dress and tiger-printed pumps. She looked way way way way better than I was when it came to fashion sense. Oh, one more thing, actually, she had the body of a goddess and she had the wondrous huge breast that could sink a thousand ships and a booty that definitely beat Iggy and Nicki Minaj. You knew what I meant.
“ Hey, lesbo, what are you staring at? Have I turned you on?” doing a sexy pose and flaunting her curves.
“Cut the crap whore! I’m not interested in those fake you know?” I replied sarcastically.
She looked at me and waved her hands like she was shooing away some chickens and ducks .“Shooooo, lesbo, these are real and natural.”
“See you in the hall!” Grrrrh…. This woman exactly wanted to destroy my beautiful day but I knew how to counter-attack that bitch. I was almost at the end of my rope but I kept calm as much as possible and left the room quietly heading to Glasstone Hall. Honestly, in my head, I wanted to smashed this phone onto her slutty face.
“Good afternoon everybody. We are all gathered here for the most significant moment of our company. Mr. Murray Davis, our dear CEO, has an important announcement.”
(A loud applause )
I was just on time when Mr. Murray got into the podium. Sweat broke into my body. Some of my colleagues stared at me since I was in the nick of time of being late but Everybody seemed to be curious about what was Mr. Murray would tell us. The room was deafening when Mr. Murray started to speak.
“eheem.” Clearing his throat.
“ We all know I’m getting aged, don’t we? “ Everybody broke a laugh. Mr. Murry had been a joker ever since.
“I’ve been in this industry for 57 years and it’s about time for me to pass my legacy to my son Blake Davis who will be the new editor-in-chief of VOX.”
The hall was filled with applause plus the giggles and chuckles of the female employees, managers, executives and as long as female. Whoosh. When I put a glimpse to new legacy per say, my jaw dropped to the ground and my eyes widened.
“Hey, lesbo.” Janice’s voice echoed. I didn’t notice her presence behind my back.
“That guy will be the next big thing. He’s dreamy. He is more than what I expected. “
“I know what you are planning about Janice.” I muttered.
“I don’t think he will hit on you, Janice.” I added.
“Watch your mouth shorty lesbo. No one has ever said no to my fatal attraction.”
“What? Seriously? In your dreams Janice. Please wake up from that dream. It might kill you.” I laughed.
(Microphone interference sound)
“Excuse me, Is Ms. Ackles in here?”
It was my name that had been called. What did they want from me? I stood stiff for 5 seconds as if I hadn’t heard anything.
“Hey, shorty lesbo. Mr. Turner is calling you. I think you need to go to their table.” Janice gave me a dagger look.
I was revived from a short shock of that special mention thingy. I raised my left hand so that Mr. Turner, one of our board of Trustees, could notice me.
“There you are. Please come over Ms. Ackles. Mr. Murray has something for you.” Mr. Turner waved at me.
Before heading to the executives’ table, I gave Janice a childish tongue-out look to make her jealous. I was certain that she was pretty envious and snoopy why the Davis called my attention and I loved to sucked up on it. Plus points for me against Janice the menace. While walking straight ahead to the executives table, I was pretty nervous.
“Good evening Mr. Murray.” Bowing my head and shaking his hand to show a deep respect to him.
“ Do you have any idea Ms. Ackles why I called you?” He asked inquisitively.
“hmm.. I’m sorry Mr. Murray. I have no clue.” I replied.
“Dear, meet my son, Blake Davis, your boss and you will be working with him as his assistant.”
I couldn’t believe my ears. I was being promoted. This was my biggest achievement! Yahoo!
“Oh, thank you so much Mr. Murray. I will do my best and I will show what I got more. Hi, Mr. Blake Davis. It is my pleasure to meet you and work with you.”
I was about to give him a shake hands but he resisted and looked at me from top to bottom.
“Ms. Kamri Ackles, am I right?” he asked.
“Yes, that’s right.” I replied cheerfully.
“Ms. Ackles, keep this in mind. I never shake hands with people who are lower than me.” He spoke sarcastically.
Oh God. I wasn’t expecting that. He was a monster in disguise. What! I thought Janice was the only nemesis that I had to deal with but here came a new one and this was much more demonic.
“Blake, don’t be ridiculous.” Mr. Murray exclaimed with anger.
Mr. Murray turned towards me and apologized of the bad attitude that his son had shown me. I could sense that there were some issues lurking around the family.
“It’s not a big deal Mr. Murray. I can deal with this situation. I might not be that piece of cake but sooner or later, I will get used it.” I boasted.
“I never regretted of choosing you.” He replied.
Oh, that was like a music to my ear. However, I wasn’t’ so sure if I could put up with his devilish son’s attitude problem. Somehow I was challenged. Besides, I loved challenges and that monstrous guy, Blake, would bow down to me. I didn’t notice I was murmuring and grinning.
“Did you say anything Ms. Ackles? “
“Oh, I said it’s great.” I answered subtly.
“Well, then, see you around. Take care.”
“You too. Thank you so much Mr. Murray.” I waved goodbye to him.
