Kamri’s POV

I made my way out of the house carrying the list of groceries I need to pick up for Ice.  She always made a list for the necessary things for our kitchen every week and it was my duty to buy them.  Of course, Ice and I had our own joint accounts.  If other people had heard about this, for sure, they would have thought we had a secret and forbidden relationship.  Well, in fact, we were just bestfriends and I  didn’t care a damn about what other people thought about us.  As long as we were true to ourselves, no one could bring us down.  I passed by the house of our friendly neighbours.  I saw Mrs. Florence watering her beautiful daffodils and poppies.

“Good afternoon  Mrs. Florence.”  I gave her a smile and a wave.  She smiled back at me as well.  I hadn’t had this time walking along the neighbourhood. It seemed it gave me a time to think.  Who the hell was that guy sending paper roses to Ice.  I wondered and wondered.  I came to think that what if she fell for that guy and she decided to move out and be with him.  I would be alone.  I felt scared.  I shook my head and told myself to stop thinking non-sense.  This was life.  I had no control of my  best friend’s life and lovelife.  In this world, people had to leave for their own happiness.

Suddenly, my phoned buzzed.  I pulled it out inside my pocket and slowly slid the unlock.  Oh, it was Kaled.

Message:

Kaleb: Kamri, I wanted to make this sure. You said that I would meet someone tonight. Is it right?

Geez.  I almost forgot the blind date I arranged for Kaleb and Alyssa tonight.  I hurriedly called him.

“Hello, Kaleb. I’m sorry for my late reply. Yup! It’s confirmed.  You are gonna meet someone in Bascon Café. “

“Hi, Kamri. Oh, thanks for that.  I sent a message to make it sure.  I never wish to be ditched my someone.” He replied.

“Sure, no problem.  You can count on me.  Your date is as ready as you expected.” I boasted.

“Really, well, I think I need to prepare for that special night with a very alluring person, maybe.” He chuckled.

“hahha.. alluring?” I said.

“By the way, what’s her name? I don’t wanna be stupid in front of her.”  He asked.

“Oh, my apology. Her name is Alyssa Trace.  Haha.. and the other things and info, I leave it to you.”  I laughed.

“Thanks.  You are such a non-spoiler.  Anyway, I gotta hang up.  I’ll keep you posted.” He hung up the phone.

Shit. Why did I arrange such a date for them but I couldn’t arrange one for me.  Ice had an admirer and me? How about me? I was sick and tired of waiting for someone who would never be mine.  I was always friendzoned by him.  I put my phone back to my pocket and went ahead to Trader Jo’s to pick up some groceries.  I might  have been single but not having a guy with me would never hinder me for being awesome.  They were distractions and that guy I had loved for so long had to be thrown on that dumpster.  I threw the carton of milk I was carrying with me like a pro basketball player in the dumpster.

“Oh yeah. Three points!” I explained.

“That’s a better place for you! I need to move on homie.”
