Scorpius's POV

I stepped off of the train and took a deep breath. It felt good to be out of the stuffy train and into the cool fall air. I looked around to see if I spotted any familiar faces. I saw Rose standing with James. Whatever they were talking about, she was blushing, clearly embarrassed. She was adorable when she was embarrassed, the way her cheeks and ears get pink. I realized I was staring and started heading towards the carriages. I had lost Blake in the crowd. I was being pushed everywhere and kept getting turned around. I finally made my way to where the carriages were being loaded. I saw a carriage being pulled away and saw who was in it. Rose. She caught my eye and waved. I smiled and waved back until she rounded a corner and I couldn't see her anymore.

"Who you waving at?" It was Blake. I hadn't even heard him come up. I realized I still had my hand up from waving at Rose and quickly put it down.

"No one."

"Ok..." Said Blake, though he didn't seem convinced.

"Let's get a carriage," I said. We got in a carriage with two 4th year Ravenclaws.

We rode in silence, with the occasional whimpers from the Ravenclaws. I hate how everyone has the same biased opinion on Slytherins. Not all of us are bad. Half of us don't even want to be in Slytherin. Also, just because we are supposed to have a bad reputation doesn't mean we actually do.

We were being pulled along by the invisible Thestrals. I haven't seen death but those who have have said they aren't the prettiest sight. I've always been curious about their appearance, but I also don't really want to see death either.

Finally we made it up to the castle. As soon as the carriage came to a stop, the Ravenclaws immediently jumped up and ran into the castle. Blake and I sighed and jumped down to, and the carriage rolled away to make room for the next carriage.

We walked through the huge oak front doors and into the entrance hall. It was already full of students in their Hogwarts robes, waiting to be let into the great hall. I looked around to see if I saw any familiar faces. I found Rose almost immediantly with her bright red hair, standing with her friends and family. I wanted to walk up and greet her so bad it hurt, but I knew it would look strange in other's eyes.

I slipped through the crowd looking for at least one person that didn't hate me other than Blake. I saw Cara Crabbe, my ex-girlfriend, standing with a group of her friends. We dated in 4th year for a while until i broke up with her. Her friends were part of the reason. They would always ask me annoying questions like, "Have you kissed her yet?" and, "When's your next date, lover boy? You better be good to her or we will hex you!" and other really annoying stuff like that.

The other reason was because Cara was just plain cruel. She will push people down in the halls and yell in their faces. She will tease people to make them feel terrible about themselves. One time, she even locked a couple 1st years in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. She is the reason other houses are afraid of Slytherins. Do you see why I broke up with her now?

As I passed them, they started whispering frantically and giggled. I don't understand girls. I was by a wall and leaned against it, giving up. I was barely aware of someone making their way towards me until they were right in front of me.

"Hey, Scorpius!"

"Rose! What are you doing here? Someone could see us!" I said, trying I keep my voice down motioned to the crowd.

"I know, but I hated seeing you standing here all alone. We can keep talking, but with angry looks on our faces and then I could storm off acting angry at you," she suggested. I laughed.

"Sounds good," I said. I then proceded to put on one of my famous sneering faces. Rose did the same.

"How's this?" She tried not to laugh.

"Brilliant. Narrow your eyes a bit," I said. She narrowed her eyes.

"This is fun. We should do this more often. I could use more lessons on how to look vicious. I could use it on Hugo." We laughed before quickly going back to our angry looks.

"We have an audience." She said. She was right, we did have an audience, and they were coming towards us.

"Remember, keep your eyes narrowed." I said. She softened her expression a bit.

"I wish we didn't have to keep it a secret," she said softly. I softened my expression as well.

"I know. Me either. I'm just afraid that-" Just then Albus, James, Danny, and Hugo walked up to us. Rose and I went back to our sneering faces.

"What are you doing over here, Rose?" asked Albus.

"Nothing, Al. Just finishing what we started on the train, that's all."

"What are you finishing exactly?" asked James, glaring at me.

"None of your business is it, Potter?" I said I shot at him, returning the glare.

"Shove off, Malfoy," said Danny, also giving me an icy look.

"No, he's right. It isn't any of our business. Rose can handle herself," said Albus. "I know from experience she can."

"Thank you, Al," Rose said thankfully. I laughed inwardly thinking about how Albus knew from experience.

"Well, if Rose can handle herself, then she can handle Malfoy," said James. Suddenly the crowd shifted and started flowing into the great hall.

"We will finish this later," said Rose. They turned and started going into the great hall with the crowd. Before she entered, she turned and gave me a thumbs up and mouthed, "Good job." I smiled and mouthed, "You too," before she was swallowed by the crowd. I started making my way into the great hall with the crowd as well, but I was smiling.

I still couldn't believe I was friends with Rose Weasley.
