Rose's POV
"Was he bothering you Rose?" Asked Hugo seriously.
"Why didn't you wake us up?" Asked Albus.
"I would've gladly taken care of him for you," said James. I laughed.
"What's so funny?" Asked Lily.
"Nothing. You guys are just funny. You know, he may not be so bad once you get to know him."
"Oh I would just love to get to know him," said James sarcastically. I rolled my eyes.
"Why would you want to get to know him anyway? Wait... Are you hiding something from us?" Asked Albus.
"No! I mean... Why would I hide anything from you guys? I can tell you anything!" I said rather to quickly.
"I'm glad! You got me thinking you hooked up with Malfoy or something!" said Hugo.
"Yeah, and if you did we would disinherit you," said James. I laughed nervously.
"That's comforting," I said while everyone else laughed.
Finally Hugo changed the subject to who they thought would try out for the quidditch team this year. James was captain again this year, playing Keeper, as he had since his second year. I was a chaser, as was Danny. Hugo was a beater and Albus was the seeker. So basically the only spots left were a beater and a chaser. Everyone knew we would make the team because,
1. We have been since our first year.
And 2. James is captain again. He has been captain since his fifth year when Anna Spinnet, Alicia Spinnet's daughter, completed her seventh year. Lily loves Quidditch as much as the rest of us, but she much rather play at home than at school in front of crowds.
For the rest of the ride I tried to keep out of their conversations by burying my nose in a book. I did not want to be the topic of conversation again. I tried to focus on the words on the page, but they were overthrown by all questions swirling in my head. What made Malfoy apologize? Why did he want to be friends with me of all people? Why was he being nice all of the sudden? He hated me and I have always hated him. That was just how it was. All the questions kept leading to one main question. What made him change?
-----------------
When we arrived at Hogsmeade, I was still pondering these questions when someone pulled me back to reality.
"Rose? Are you ok? Did I offend you when I said that stuff about disinheriting you if you hooked up with Malfoy? Because I was just kidding..."
"No, James, it's not that. It's just..."
"It's just what? You can tell me anything, Rose, you know that."
"I know." I sighed. "It's just... Have you ever met someone that you absolutely hated for most of your life, and then they suddenly change? Then you find out that they were never who you always thought they were?" I asked. James was quiet for a while.
"No. Well, I have met people that I didn't particularly like, but eventually we ended up friends and they weren't as bad as I thought they were. It just takes time and you have to give the person a chance," he said.
"Thanks James," I smiled. "That helped me a lot. When did you learn how to give such good advice?" I joked.
"I thought you had figured out by now, Rose, that I'm naturally good at everything. And anything for family," he smiled and gave me a hug. He pulled away and said, "Now, are you going to tell me who this is about?"
"Nope. Sorry,"
"Ok, fine," he frowned. "You know I will find out sooner or later," he smirked. I hit him on the shoulder.
"Whatever, James," I smiled and rolled my eyes.
"Are you guys coming or what?" Albus yelled from across the platform. "If you don't hurry up you're going to miss the carriages!"
James just rolled his eyes. "Coming!" I yelled back. "We better go."
"Yeah, I'm well aware," he rolled his eyes again and mumbled something about little brothers being annoying and bossy. I giggled.
"What?"
"Nothing, nothing,"
"Oh, come on. I'm getting tired of your sudden secrecy about everything," James whined.
"You guys are just funny. How you get on each others nerves."
"Oh yeah, hilarious," James said sarcastically. "It's funny until he takes something of yours or does something embarrassing to you." I just laughed at him.
When we approached the carriages, Albus was waiting for us.
"About time!" He said, annoyed.
"Sorry, Rose had something deeply private and embarrassing to discuss with me," said James. I smacked him on the back of the head.
"Haha, you're hilarious,"
"I know," he said. We laughed and climbed into the carriage. Just as it started to pull away, I saw someone wave at me. It was Scorpius. I smiled and waved back.
"Who are you waving at?" Asked James.
"No one." I said. James smirked.
"Is it that special someone?"
"No. Now shove off! You're lucky I told you anything!"
"Ok, ok, sorry." He said offensively. I looked back where I last saw Scorpius. I found him and caught his eye. I waved at him until we rounded a corner and I couldn't see him anymore. Now that I think about it, it might be nice to have Scorpius as a friend.

Author's Note
Sorry it took so long to update! I've been pretty busy lately.
Okay, in the story, I know it says something about Alicia spinnet and her daughter. I decided not to give her a different last name and just say that she is divoriced and changed her name back to her maiden name instead of coming up with a husband for her. It was just easier haha.
I hope you like this chapter! i know its short, but at least I'm updating! I may try to update tomorrow as well :)
