Jay's POV

Work.

Work.

Work.

That's all I ever hear around here. 'Jay go earn yourself some money' or 'Jay do something with your life.' What's the point in even doing those sort of things when you can't even talk to the your friends that you've known for the majority of the year?

I'm so tired of hearing my mother complain to my how I need to get money for myself or to find new friends. I'm about to explode into the beyond. A nice and easy situation would be selling our junk from the scrapyard to the city to earn the bigger bucks, but NO! 'It's too far from here', 'you have school'. Why golly, if you wanted me to get a job then you should've told me that when I turned 16 and not wait to say anything two years later!

Sometimes parents are just the worst in these sort of times. But you gotta admit, it teaches you a lot about the real world. A horrible world indeed.

Anyway, I was parked in the corner of the city where all the auto mechanics are. I heard they pay good money, but from what I've been seeing in news articles there's only a few spots left available. Let's just hope my 'live on a scrapyard' excuse works.

I looked at one of the few signs on an auto shop with bright yellow and blue lights spelling out 'Auto Magic'. It looked the most fun and expensive at the very least, but I was willing to try anything at this point. I took in a deep breath, grabbed my paperwork, and got out of my father's truck.

There's no heading back now. I walked straight into the door, quiet literally as the doors were glass. Great job Jay, you can't even see glass. I'm a flipping bird, a flipping dumb bird.

"You realize there's a window there lil Bluejay" A voice suddenly teased. I knew that voice from anywhere, and the nickname too.

I turned around to see the one and only, "Who knew? Maybe there is a reason why you called me that, Cherry Blossom" I responded as I looked deep into her crystal ocean eyes and a spatter of black tar was upon her cheek.

Nya giggled, "What are you doing here birdy? I though your folks didn't allow you to have any speaking terms with me?" She asked suspiciously as she walked up close to me as my face felt like a burning stove.

"A-A job! Yeah a job! I'm getting interviewed for the auto shop today" I blurted out and about.

She shook her head, "Well you might have to hang tight for a bit. The boss is on a hangover at the moment, so I'm the only one here working for a few hours until he comes back to collect the keys" the raven told me as she unlocked the glass doors to the shop.

A few hours? Dang, maybe the boss is a bit coo coo on the booze, but maybe I can get the job if I had the experience from a fellow student. Or shall I say love if I may.

As we entered the shop, lights were popping out of the blue, cars appearing with every drop of light shown. Some were old, crusty, 1950 models while others were Ford's, Lambo's, and etc. Heck this shop must make millions per day to just fix these cars.

"So why are you interested in the job, Jay" Nya's voice suddenly spoke as she sat down at the front desk grabbing files within the drawers.

I bit my lip in fear of her reaction, "Well my mother wanted me to get a job and I thought my skills would work best in an auto shop" I said.

Her face read it all, understanding of the situation and accepting. "Well I hope you get the job once the boss gets back from his stand alone hangover."

"I thought you weren't allowed to get a job after the whole criminals thing" I asked her a bit surprised that she was even here.

Nya sighed, "Kai doesn't even know I have this job or even applied for it. And also that wasn't the only reason why he wouldn't let me get one either" she told me.

I raised my eyebrow, "Really? And what is that?" I questioned.

Nya looked from her left to right as she placed the paperwork back down and walked over to me and grabbed ahold of my hand as she dragged me to a closet. I really hope this isn't what my head is thinking right now. Don't become dirty minded yet Walker!

Soon she had us both in the closet, and empty one may I add with only a single bucket full of cleaning supplies. "You are not allow to speak any of what I'm about to tell you got it?" she said with a stern looked on her face.

I nodded as she proceeded to speak, "So after I was cured of my Lung Cancer, my brother was worried I would get it again if we did or went to certain things. Such as if people are smoking cigarettes, he would force me to turn around and cover my mouth so I wouldn't breathe it in. Kai just doesn't understand that I can still do normal things just like I did before I got cancer. He went to as far as not let me share any information that I did have cancer. It's as if he's embarrassed to even have a sister who was once consented with it. Especially since I'm one of a billion children who even gets it at that age."

"But it's not your fault that you got cancer. It was you foster parents who caused it" I told her as I put my hand under her chin as she looked to face me.

"I should've been more cautious like Kai."

"You were six."

"Five technically."

Silence soon took over the room as we both gazed at each other. Her eyes land on mine as I was absorbed into her glistening waters. I could see the curiosity within her eyes as I felt the sparks in my eyes flicker on and off. I just knew that we wanted something from the other, but we also know that we can't in the current situation.

I sighed, "You and I both know-"

"Yeah, I know" she replied.

Silence once more. The downfall filled the room with upset. We want to have something together, but we can't. There's always a can't in our situation.

"We're filing a lawsuit against Morro. And the court assignment is official. They've asked for you to be there since you were the first one to find me that day" She informed me as she told ahold on my hand as she kept her head down to the ground, giving me no eye contact whatsoever.

I nodded my head knowing that she couldn't possibly see me, "When will that be?" I asked looking down at her.

"Couple weeks, it's before our senior prom" Nya confessed to me still looking at the ground.

Great. Add that and Mrs. Brookestone's suicide court case to the list of things I have to do in the final month of school. Just great. Can't wait to tell my grateful mother about this....

A little ring was heard from outside the door as it grabbed both Nya's and I's attention. Then the blurry voice started saying something that I could not interpret. That was until I heard Nya gasp.

"That's my boss" she whimpered.

'Where is the lassy! I thought I told her to fix these cars!!!' the voice said.

It was a low, rusty, voice that you would hear in those old school pirate movies that got 2% rotten tomatoes by critics. Little clicks could be heard from the rim of the door, and before I knew it, the door swung open reveling a man in mid forty's  looking both confused and enraged.

I just can't catch a break anymore.
