CH 30 Time to tell Jake the truth

Tommy POV

When we arrived at chucky cheese Jake's little face lit up like a Christmas tree. He was so excited; he was bouncing up and down in his seat. Danny parked and we got out and he got Jake out of the car and held his hand and mine and we walked into the boy's new joy. When we walked in, Jake's face fell to the floor and his eyes about popped out of his head.

"This is so cool!!" he yelled jumping up and down with his arms in the air.

"Yes, it is! Come on, let's go get tokens so we can play games yea?" Danny said as he took Jake to the counter and I found us a table. They got tokens and came over to me. Danny handed me tokens and we went to play a few games.

"So, what do you think Jake, is this place what you expected it to be?" Danny asked as we sat at the table. Jake nodded still looking around at everything.

"Yea, it's awesome! I want to go play that though." He said pointing to the ski ball game.

"Alright, I'll take you to play if you want." I offered and he smiled and hopped off the tall chair and we went to play ski ball.

"Are you having a good time Jake?" I asked as he was focusing on lining up the ball to his target.

"Yea, I haven't had fun like this before. I'm enjoying it and if it weren't for Danny and you all, I would still be..." He trailed off and threw the ball and it went into the center ring, he cheered and hugged my legs. I smiled down at him.

"That was a nice shot little man!" Danny yelled from the table and Jake smiled a wide smile at him.

"Thanks!" He yelled back. I noticed there were drinks and food on the table, so I nodded to the table and looked down at Jake and he nodded and we went back to the table.

"I figured it was time to get some food, we've been here for a while now and I don't know about you but I'm hungry." Danny said as we sat down.

"Yea I'm hungry to. I'm having a fun time, thank you for bringing me here Danny." Jake said as he picked up a slice of pizza and then took a bite.

"You're welcome. I'm glad you are having a good time. It's all I wanted so I'm glad. There is something that I need to talk to you about when we get back to the house, it's something serious that will be life changing for you and I." He said as he took Jake's hand. Jake looked at him and looked worried.

"Are you going to leave me here alone?" He asked as tears welled in his eyes. Danny quickly took him into his arms.

"No goodness no I will never leave you, not again Jake, never. I left you once and I didn't even know I did so no, I will never leave you again I swear." He said as he rubbed his back.

"What do you mean you left me once and didn't know?" he asked looking up at Danny.

"How about we get out of here and go back to the house and we talk?" He said and Jake nodded. We got out and I went and got a couple boxes and packed up the food we didn't eat, and we left. The drive back was quiet, I knew Danny was thinking of what he was going to say and was worried about Jake's reaction to what he had to tell him. I took Danny's hand and rubbed my thumb across the back of his hand in soothing circles and Danny gave me a soft smile.

Danny POV

God I am so nervous, I have no idea how Jake is going to react, once he finds out I just hope he doesn't hate me. I pulled up to the house and we got out. I opened Jake's door and got him out of his seat and Tommy grabbed the food. We went inside and everyone was in the living room. We walked in and I sat on the chair and put Jake on my lap.

"Hey, did you boys have fun?" Dad asked and Jake nodded. "Yea, I had a blast! It was like a whole other world there!" he said smiling wide.

"Good, I'm glad you did. You deserved it." Hunter chimed in and smiled at Jake.

"Jake, it's time to talk now ok?" I said getting his attention.

"Ok." He said and I sighed.

"Ok. This isn't easy for me to say so I'm just going to level with you, I think you can handle the truth, well not all the details because you are young, and I won't put that on you. When I was fourteen, some horrible things happened to me. Since I was ten actually until I was sixteen and even than my life was hard for a while after I left here. When I was fourteen, I was hurt badly, I had to go to the doctor and get fixed up. I was told that I had lost the baby I was pregnant with. I know you don't understand that but, since I'm a certain type of wolf it means I can have babies even though I'm a boy, so I was pregnant, and I didn't know it. I was told that the baby had died. When I found out I was so heart broken. I didn't even know I had a baby until the doctor told me after I woke up. I had to have a surgery on my tummy." I said and I lifted my shirt up and showed him the scar along my lower stomach. He traced his fingers along it. He looked up at me, so I continued on.

"Well after that, I didn't care much about what happened to me because I was hurting so much from the loss of my baby. When I was sixteen, I had found my mate and well he rejected me and had me banished and he didn't tell anyone I was his mate. I left this place and left everything behind because I had no real reason to stay here, in VA. If I had known about you, I would have taken you with me. Jake, you are the baby I had lost. They told me you had died, and they kept you from me. I had no idea you were alive; they wouldn't let me see you and I was told you were already taken away. If I had known Jake, I would have done everything I could have to keep you from getting hurt or left alone. I am so sorry Jake. If I could turn back time I would, and I would do everything in my power to protect you while you were inside me and after you were born. I would have taken you with me. I would have done anything and everything for you. I found out you were my son a couple days ago. One of the things the doctor did was a DNA test to see if we can find out who you parents were so we can find them and return you to them but, it turns out I'm your father." I said and by the time I was done talking, I was scared. He hasn't moved or even blinked but I saw the tears he was fighting from falling from his eyes.

"So, they hurt you too?" He said after what felt like forever. I nodded and closed my eyes.

"They told you I was dead and told you that you couldn't see me that I was already taken away, you left later on after you found your mate and you had no idea I was even here." He repeated what I said back to me and I nodded.

"You didn't feel it in your heart? You didn't think something was off? You didn't know they lied to you?!" He was upset and I knew he would be.

"Jake if you only knew what I had been through when I lived here, I will tell you when you are older but now, you don't need to know. I was a kid myself. I didn't have a choice but to believe them because I didn't know how to tell if someone was lying at that age because I was so sheltered and broken that I believed anything and everything that was told to me. If I had known you were alive, trust me I would have taken you with me. I would have fought them with all I am to get you. I'm so sorry Jake. I am so sorry for what they did to you and I'm sorry for leaving you." I had tears falling on my cheeks now. Jake gave me a look I never thought a child should give, it was one of anger and hurt and heart break and he got off my lap and ran out of the room. I felt my heart shatter and I broke down.

"He'll be ok, he just needs time to process it Danny." Dad said and I didn't say anything, I just put my head in my hands and cried. I can't have my son hating me. I got up from the chair and went up stairs and went to bed, exhausted from the days events and just wanted to sleep for a while. I hope tomorrow Jake will talk to me.
