Insanity:

Being a hoe for one night when you know it's not your personality and this decision will haunt you for the next year.

"You know, me being the moon and you being the sun would be much more accurate to our personalities." (1)

Ashley laughed at me as she adjusted her DIY headband covered in glittery stars and a crescent moon.

"You're the one with the excessive gold makeup. I would not be able to look half as good as you do. Plus, you're the light of my life."

I laughed as I applied a final dusting of gold eyeshadow on my lips. The one thing I didn't own was gold lipstick, so I was hoping that a mixture of nude lipstick and gold eyeshadow would do the trick.

"Did I mention that Ben texted me about tonight?" I asked, referring to the guy that Paige had set me up on a blind date with earlier in the month, "He's going to the party and wants to know if I wanted to hang out there."

            Ashely shrugged.

"He'll probably just dance with you for a bit and then leave to hang out with his friends."

I nodded, twisting the cap on the eyeshadow and placing it back on the shelf by the vanity.

"You're right. I'll just be nice and then we can find hot guys to dance with. You need a guy, Ash."

"I know, I know." Ashley laughed, "We'll find one for me tonight. And we'll find his super hot friend for you."

"I like the sound of that." I grinned. "Ready to head out?"

Ashley nodded as we started for the door.

"Just don't hit your headband on the doorframe."

I felt a tug on the rays of cardboard sunshine sticking out of my head and ducked slightly.

            "Whoops, too late." (2)

I didn't think that Ben was a bad guy. But when I got the text message from him asking to hang out at the party, I didn't think he meant follow me around the entire time like a lost puppy dog while I tried to meet new people.

Evidently, that was exactly what he had meant.

I could feel Ashley getting annoyed by our 6'4" shadow, but I wasn't really sure what to do about it. I had agreed to chill with him at this thing; I couldn't exactly take that back halfway through because I wanted to meet different guys.

And no guy was going to come up and talk to a girl who looked like she was already taken.

So, we continued around the party awkwardly, Ash and I trying to do our own thing while Ben followed. We took a picture at the photobooth while he stood a few feet away waiting, we got food while he quietly munched on a candy bar behind us. I gave Ashley a look that said "I am so sorry" more than a few times, and she nodded back understandingly.
