40. Ugh!

This whole pregnancy has been one 'catastrophe' after another. It was almost like Reece had forgotten when Mum was pregnant with our siblings.

In the first trimester we were still getting settled and she was puking every day.

"Zoe this doesn't feel normal. I need to go to the doctor." She would say every other morning.

"You have a doctor's appointment on Saturday, and we've called him enough this week." I would reply putting her hair in a ponytail so I could get back to unpacking.

Ever since she hit her fourth month the puking slowed dramatically. It went from every day to only about 2 or 3 times a week all at once.

Every few days I would hear her calling Calum. I only knew it was Calum because she was always in the next room and she never left anyone a message but she would leave him one.

The fact that he wouldn't pick up was angering me deeply.

My hand healed up pretty fast but the joints in my fingers felt oddly stiff. I had tried to play my cello but it was significantly harder than it should've been. That made me very nervous.

I had given up my instruments and Ashton noticed.

"You don't have your cello out?" He asked. At first I was weirded out that he noticed that but then I remembered that 90% of the time he visited me he would try to play it.

"Oh, it's hard to play. My hand is a little...messed up." I said shrugging. He frowned and laid back on my bed.

"You know what we should do?" He asked.

Dinner. Going out to dinner was Ashton's idea. I know Reece wanted to blame me but by now I know the rules we have to live by. That included that we can't go out to dinner since the beginning of her second trimester when we couldn't hide the bump anymore.

About a third of the way through the meal Reece and Calum went outside. I rolled my eyes.

"Anyway. What's up with you guys?" I asked completely ignoring the fact that they left so abruptly. The guys ignored my question and started talking about Reece and Calum. I sighed and mindlessly stirred my drink.

It felt rude but the last 6 months have been about nothing but Reece and Calum. And I was sick of it. My life was literally taking care of her and their baby and I was hoping the guys showing up would mean we talk about something new.

That space out thing that I'm good at happened. I snapped out of it when Reece came back.

"How was that?" I asked uninterested.

"It was fine." She said taking a sip of her water. Calum came back a few minutes later smelling like cigarettes. I know I quit a few years ago but boy did that shit still smell good.

After dinner we made our way home. Ashton held my hand the whole time. Despite not really talking since he got here I knew he was tired and wanted nothing more than to maybe take a shower and go to sleep.

That didn't seem like it was going to be possible when our house was covered in people and police and loud ass music blasting from the open front door.

I got out of the car first and walked up to the nearest police officer.

"What is going on?" I asked. He tried to brush me off, "Excuse me, I am the home owner and I was not home. You better start telling me what's going on."

"Oh, I'm sorry ma'am." He backtracked completely. I felt bad turning on my mom voice to get him to spill the beans but it had to happen.

Apparently the Chainsmokers thought they were staying at my house too and so they helped themselves to whatever they wanted, then decided to throw a massive house party. Reece was upset but I was pissed.
