Calum moved his arm around my shoulders and I couldn't help the grin that spread over my face. It was so stupid but I felt like a 19 year old kid again. It was utterly ridiculous.
"Oh look at how disgustingly happy you look, little sister." Jonas said teasingly, only making me blush. I hid my face in Calum's shoulder as Jonas pulled on a jacket that looked too small. "Honestly it's like looking at you six years ago."
Being away had left Jonas a bit bulkier than he was the last time he wore that jacket. Not really in a fat kinda way. He had crazy muscles from farm work. He was just generally thicker than he used to be.
"Where are you going?" Calum asked, giggling as he ran his fingers through my tangled hair, subsequently pulling it a bit.
"I've got a band meeting and I can't imagine it going well." He said rolling his eyes. "You two try to keep your hands off each other while I'm gone. There is a two year old wandering around here. Can't let him walk in on Mommy and Daddy going at it on the couch."
"Okay!" I said jumping up from the couch, "I'm going to check on the garden." Calum laughed at me and swatted at my butt as I walked away. I went outside through the back door and saw Brodie playing with Dino and Duke. Duke still barked too much for Brodie's liking but he stopped screaming anytime the little dog went near him. Not that Dino ever gave him much of a chance.
"Brodie!" I called to him and he looked over to me. "Too close to the road, Goose!" I waved him closer and he ran toward me, both dogs running after him. Dino and Duke obviously got to me first, and when Brodie reached me he grabbed onto my leg.
"Hi MumMum." He giggled and nuzzled into my leg.
"Hey Goose," I giggled at him and ruffled his curly mop of hair. "Wanna help me in the garden?" He nodded wildly and made a run for the fenced in garden we had started. I doubted anything had grown much bigger than when I checked it a few days ago.
Mainly Calum took care of it. He was very excited and passionate about it.
I followed Brodie and grabbed the hose. It hadn't rained in a couple days and Calum has been a bit busy so I was sure everything could use some water. Brodie moved over to the window boxes that Calum nailed to the fence and stood up on his toes to see in them. He and Calum planted some strawberries there that Brodie was very excited for.
"I pick thems MumMum?" He asked while I turned the hose setting to a light mist. I didn't wanna drown the plants.
"Uh only if they're big and pink, Okay?" I scrunched up my nose as he nodded again. I didn't think there would be any grown and ripe yet, but it couldn't hurt to look.
I watered the other plants and when I was done I turned the hose on Brodie and sprayed him. He gasped and then he laughed before he whined.
"MumMum, I wet now!" He grumbled and made a very Calum looking face, so I sprayed him again, which made him laugh again. He didn't like being wet, but he liked being sprayed with the hose. He just didn't like the soggy and drippy afterward. "No MumMum!" He was laughing but I knew he didn't actually like it.
So I stopped and happened to look up and find Zoe coming toward us. "Hey Z!" I said as I shut off the hose. "How goes it?"
"Eh...." she made a face and Brodie ran to her. "Hey Goof." She giggled at him as he offered her a big pink strawberry. "Oh thank you!"
He went back to see if there were anymore strawberries he could eat right off the vine.
"What's wrong? Trouble in Paradise?" I was kidding of course. I knew she and Ashton fought a lot. I really wondered how they managed to be a couple at all most of the time but I didn't voice that.
