The muffled sound of my rapidly beating heart drowned the rest of what was happening as the burning feeling in my leg drastically increases.
Never in my life had I ever run so fast. I've been bullied, yes. Most of the time, yes. But for me, it was the kind of bullying that doesn't involve any physical one. Only verbal.
Which is why, I am not prepared for this one.
A tree came into view and I immediately slid my body behind it. Grasping its bark, I let my body do the work and jusr dragged myself into the dirt to hide behind that tree.
I catched every breath that left my lungs after that as I clutched a very unfamiliar object close to my chest. Holy crap, I have never ever done this.
I peered slowly from the edges of the tree; there was nothing there. Only a vast field of trees and flowers. But I couldn't keep my guard down. I can't.
As I was too busy leaning myself on the tree and being wary of what was happening behind me, I shadow loomed in front of me and I knew this was the end. I have never feared something so bad until this very moment.
"Found. You."
I felt my body jerk as a familiar click followed by a soft thud sounded. My eyes followed where the sound had made impact and saw...
A green paintball.
"Oh, dang." I groaned, tossing the paintball gun from my hand to the ground; like a child having a tantrum. This earned a chuckle from the blonde wraith that loomed above me.
"pURe sKiLlsSss" he bragged while flexing both of his arms in front of me, even going far as kissing each bicep. My face made a grimace as I reach over my gun and shot the blonde wraith mercilessly.
He stopped making-out with his biceps and gave me a betrayed look. The red paint of my gun dripped from his vest as a triumphant grin spread across my lips.
"You're rebelling against the rules of Paintball." He remarked, pulling out a hand for me to take.
And I did.
I took his hand and allowed him to hoist me up whilst saying, "I may, but we all have been a fool when playing Uno for, my dear Watson, we cannot counter a +4 with another +4 or a +2. We are obligated to take the +4 card without. Any. Complains. Or. Cards. To. Counter. Our. Fate."
Ben's eyes widened as if the world has betrayed him altogether. "WHAT?!" he shrieked, his eyes watering as he dramatically fell on his knees; punching the ground before him, "All. My life," he continued shakily, "is a lie."
Seeing as he didn't seem to be faking anything else(although, I am admitting that he's a tad bit over dramatic), I reached for his shoulder, "Hey, don't worry. Life is a little bit like an Uno game, y'hear?"
"A. Lieeeeee, Asriel." He drawled as he lifted his gaze, letting me see his tear-filled eyes. Oh, boy.
"Yes, it may be a lie. But," I offered, kneeling before him for emphasis, "life is a lying son of a.." I cleared my throat, "you get the point. We all get lied at many times without us noticing. We were lied at when we taught Mom's actual name was Mom, right?"
He sniffled and nodded. "We were lied at by our parents when we all taught babies came from a gigantic bird." He nodded again, making me smile, "And we're lied at by teachers who kept telling us that each level of school is harder than the last when it's really not. High school doesn't require cursive writing like our elementary teachers proclaimed, college isn't as dreadful as our high school teachers claimed to be, and adulthood," I paused, seeing as I haven't reached that level of hierarchy, I said, "That's a TBC for me."
