"Sans, I.. I'm really sorry." Was all I could tell him.

"it's.. okay. it feels nice, y'know." With both eye sockets closed, he opened one to give me a look, "having someone to tell all this to, and not have to explain anything afterwards." He grinned his usual grin as he seemed to stretch out of the tension the previous conversation had created.

I tried to loosen up a bit too and mirrored the smile on his face.

"so," he started, back to his laid-back self as he leaned towards the arm of the bench, giving my a look I know all too well. "whats holding you two up?"

I freaking knew it. But I tried to play along.

"Us two, who?"

The grin on his face only grew wider as his eyes lit in amusement. "you know."

I rolled my eyes then as I straighted my back and give him a look, "Okay, what exactly do you want to know?"

And like a little kid, he jumped to sit properly to gaze at me 'adoringly,' "you knoww." He drawled on, using the same tone he did before.

"Sans, you're being annoying. Now spill it."

He scoffed uncharacteristically, "when will the two of you hit it off? its obvious you both like each other."

I released a long, unwanted sigh as I slouched myself on the bench. "Dude.. no." Was all I could breathe out.

"yeah, but why?" He was honestly like a little kid.

"Because," I started, my eyes watching the current collide with one another, creating a small splash, Sans followed the direction of where I was looking, but I doubt he would get it.

I sighed once more and pushed myself off the bench.

"I just wasn't ready for the responsibility."

No words was said after that, and Sans and I left the place in agreeable silence.

-

"Where have you two been!" A smol, angry goat huffed once we were back at Snowdin, his face merely inches from my own. So close I could kiss it.

"Have you any idea how worried I was?!"

"He's fuming." I told Sans who stood behind me with his hands inside the pocket of his jacket.

"hes fuming." He echoed like an Echo Flower-or in this case, he echo flower'ed-both of our smiles stretched to match one another.

"Ben, I'm serious." Asriel's face came in view once again, and he was, indeed, very serious.

"I know you are." Was all I said before unconsciously reaching out and pinching his cheek. "You wanna go home?"

I could feel Sans' sudden change of behavior, and I couldn't help but nudge him with my foot.

"Yeah, I think we should go home."

He then turned to the two skeleton behind us, and with the brightest smile, he bid his farewell.

"See you tomorrow." I told Sans as Asriel hurriedly dragged me back to the Ruins.

"tomorrow." Sans echo flower'ed, his grin wider.

Tomorrow came as quick as we expected. Toriel made butterscotch-cinnamon pie to give to the brothers as Asriel and I embarked to our official hangout.
