My ears felt like they could literally fall off any second now as the cold was inescapable.
Curiosity tapped the corner of my mind about the two skeleton Asriel discussed a few chapters ago. A crunch of snow echoed seconds after my own, I whipped my head in time to see a startled striped sweater wearing goat.
"Asriel?" I called out in disbelief, "Your parent's gonna kill me." I spoke through gritted teeth.
"I know, but—" my eyebrows knitted im frustration, "BUT! I'm curious. I wanna know where you're going."
I sighed in frustration and held out a hand for him to take. "Just.. please stick close to me." His brown orbs widened, ears perked up before cascading slowly, his eyes avoided mine as he sheepishly replied.
"Of course." He murmured, his paw placed in my hand as we both crunched the snow before our feet. The wind was diminishing its wrath as we both moved forward until we were met by an unbuilt bridge.
It had a wooden floor board long enough to be able to cross to the other side, and an unfinish pillar on both side at the end of the bridge. "Well, this is new..?" I mumbled.
"How is it new? Have you been here before?" Asriel questioned innocently, and if I hadn't known the dude, I would've assumed he was being a smartass.
"It's an.." I sighed, "It's an expression from another dimension."
His ears perked, mouth ajar as he went, "Ohhhh! I get it. Yeah, totally get it." whilst nodding.
He's such a child.
"WHO GOES THERE?" a voice called out from the other side. It was too much of a high shrieked tone to be called intimidating. But the voice was very much screaming.. in such a childlike tone.
"come on, bro. it's probably just some monster. lets head back." another voice, a bit deeper than the first one, spoke.
"NO. WHAT IF IT'S A HUMAN?! I WOULD MISS MY CHANCE TO CAPTURE IT!!"
"what if it's not?"
"WHAT IF IT IS? THE KING WILL BE SO PROUD OF US, THEN! SURELY HE WILL THEN CONVINCE UNDYNE THAT I AM A WORTHY PLAYMATE! NYEHE!"
Asriel and I exchanged glances with each other as the conversation of the two voices continued from the other end.
"what's so great about undyne, anyway, paps?"
"OH, MY DEAR BROTHER, SANS. YOU REALLY DON'T GET IT, DO YOU? UNDYNE IS THE COOLEST KID IN SNOWDIN! IF EVERYONE SAW THAT SHE'S PLAYING WITH ME, THE COOLEST SKELETON PLAYMATE, PAPYRUS, I'LL BECOME POPULAR.. POPULAR..!! POPULARR!!! WITH EVERY KID IN SNOWDIN!"
"well, i'm gonna tell you right now, paps. they're just a bunch of kids.. unless this blonde one over here." A voice spoke behind us, and by instinct, I immediately scooped a handful of snow in my hand and attempted to throw it at the voice who spoke.
But as quick as I turned, a bright blue light flickered in my vision, and I was faced with a skull whose socket had a silver illuminating orb in them. A huge grin plastered almost permanently onto the skull.
"wouldn't do that if i were you, kid. tell me, are you human?"
"NO!" Asriel shrieked behind me, pulling me away from the skeleton and getting in between us, "He is not."
The skeleton's sockets widened, if it's even possible, at the sight of Asriel. "the prince? what's a prince like you doing here?"
"SANS, HOW DID YOU GET THERE SO FAST!" the shrieking voice questioned as its figure that slowly approached us from the bridge became clearer.
