Happiness and freedom were two different words but they worked great together.
She believed that a person can not be happy without freedom and a person could not be free without happiness.
There's this feeling of freedom that happiness brings inside of you, like you could float in your own world of intense joy, although she was a Christian at heart, she was not given the privilege to be either things.
In fact she was more of a lifeless trapped and confused damsel who was in distress but didn't want to be saved by a prince, she just wanted to breath,to be happy again and although she had not smiled for almost two years, she felt contented in being numb and void of emotions, because as she lay on her king sized bed, feeling nothing but dread not just because she was wearing old fashioned clothes although that had an effect too but mostly because she was sick, maybe a lot sicker than anyone thinks, but she certainly needed a doctor, she needed God too,to tell her she was alive and not just breathing aimlessly in the world. She gazed at the window of her room and had a sudden urge to bang her head to the window glass,to scream, but her skin looked pale and fragile, and she hated that, she hated looking weak when she wasn't, she wasn't even allowed to be weak.
Her hands trailed down her body and rested on her new bulging stomach,it felt relatively big but with all the stress she was up to recently, her size had been greatly affected and she looked sick, she had been sick for months but Aaron her husband cared less,in fact he would rather care about a stray dog or a lost puppy than his own wife, the same wife that longed for love and affection few months ago but was now regarded as broken and unfixed. All through the time she was in deep thoughts, she never once cared about what was wrong with her,she didn't know if she was pregnant, she had hoped not,she didn't want another baby for a veil man who wouldn't even spare a glance at her form,at first she thought it was her fault that she wasn't pretty enough, then she thought she wasn't useful, but soon she found out it wasn't her it was him,he didn't appreciated what she did,but somehow it was alright, she had grown used to it.
She had nothing to loose and nothing to gain, just some new clothes and shoes and some jewelry that made her feel suffocated and bruises that she wanted to scratch but was scared to provoke the skin.
So she did what was best, she laid on the bed like a lifeless animal and closed her eyes, not to sleep, but try to breath.Until there was a knock at the door, followed by an opening.
It was a man, dressed in white shirt, black tie, black pants and a black suit jacket,he had a briefcase on and he looked like a respectable gentleman, she didn't come across those anymore.
"Good morning Cleopatra, how are you feeling today". He chirped, like the world was beautiful and glittery, like the clouds were made of cotton candy and the sun of lollipop, like he didn't know that anytime he asked that question she'd say the very same thing she said three months ago.
"I hate doctors".she said and closed her eyes immediately and she was imagining opening them and finding out he had disappeared but alas he was still there with a stethoscope wrapped around his neck and a smile on his face.
"I like your optimism". He said sarcastically."You would be fine in no time". He softly touch her neck to feel the temperature as he bit his lip.
"You're running a fever". He said sadly.
"That can't be right,I haven't been running lately only sleeping,so how can I possibly run a fever". She said sarcastically with anger dripping from her voice, she had known ever since that she had been running a fever, yet this doctor had to say it to make a conversation.
"Cleopatra,Cleopatra you always have a way of making even a doctor laugh". He said as he chuckled.
"Maybe that's what's so special about you". He said softly.
"Maybe not ".she corrected as she closed her eyes again not wanting to be disturbed again.
