Chapter Eight

Cleopatra had never felt so concerned about the soil in her whole life but right at that moment she wanted the ground to open up and swallow her whole.
She couldn't look at her husband as Evelyn recalled the incident.

"Cleopatra is such a darling she saved my life". Evelyn chirped as she looked at Cleopatra.

"I didn't know my wife was such a life saver". Aaron commented as he squeezed her shoulder,she knew that would leave a bruise.

"Oh she is more than a heroine". Evelyn said cheerfully,without considering how big a grave she was digging for poor Cleopatra.

"When exactly did this happen". Aaron asked with his pretentious attitude.

"Last week I think". Evelyn guessed and Cleopatra was sure Aaron was intelligent enough to figure out when.

"How wonderful". Aaron chirped sarcastically as he glanced down at her face.

"So who are you to her". Evelyn asked just when Cleopatra thought nothing else could go wrong.

"She didn't tell you did she". Aaron asked feigning surprise,he dug his fingers into her shoulders anf she winced.

"No she did not". Evenly who didn't know she was making matters worse said.

"Why don't you tell her love who I am". Aaron told her with he smirked.

"He is my.......".

"Theo come here will you". Evelyn interrupted as she summoned Theodore, he stood up reluctantly and walked over to them,he didn't like meeting people but he knew he couldn't say no to his mother.

Theo walked to his mother and that was when he saw her,Cleopatra looking gorgeous in her red ball gown,he graced her gown from head to toe and signed in admiration,she was beautiful but was frowning he wondered why.

"Theo you remember Cleopatra right". How could I forget Theo wanted to say but he held his tongue and nodded.

At the sight of Theodore, Aaron stiffened,he wasn't scared of many people but he was definitely beneath a member of the king makers and he recognised Theodore to not only be a member but a leader.

"The popular king maker Lord Theodore". Aaron said respectively as Theo looked at him, he knew he was a member of the Kings.

"And you must be Aaron a member of the Kings". Aaron was proud Theo knew him well,it wasn't easy to be known by a kingmaker's club talk less the leader.

"I am honoured to know you". Aaron bowed his head respectively,and Cleopatra was shocked, she wasn't used to seeing Aaron bowing down or being respectful,this made her find Theodore even more intimidating.

"What may I do for you mother". Theodore asked impatiently.

"I wanted you to meet her,now that you have you can go". Theo rolled his eyes and left although he didn't regret coming.

Soon everyone was sited again and Cleopatra was scared of what to come,she was scared of what her husband would do her now that he found out she had been roaming the streets.

The music started playing and every couple stood up to dance but Cleopatra was left alone by her husband who preferred whiskey to her.

"May I have this dance". Theo asked and she froze,she looked up and was speechless by their proximity, she could scent his perfume and she loved it,his face was enticingly attractive but she knew better than to fall for the tricks of his beauty when she had a husband who would kill her for it.

"I would have to humbly decline Sir". She said softly and it was music to Theo's ears.

"Please call me Theodore". He said in his usual but intimidating baritone voice as he walked away,she felt a little disappointed that he left but she better feel disappointed than to be dead in the morning,although death never seemed like a bad idea.
