Chapter nine

Cleopatra stayed indoors for the whole day,doing nothing but sulk on her new profound bruises, they were big and her cheeks were puffy,but that was nothing her makeup couldn't fix,she walked around her room with her hands behind her as she roamed her room.
After getting exhausted she sat on the side of the bed closest to window and looked out.
She was shocked with what she saw,outside was Theodore and his entourage behind him as he packed his car and stepped out.
She couldn't figure out what Theodore wanted but just then there was a knock on the door.

"Come in". Cleopatra said absent mindedly as she looked out the window.

"Madam someone is here to see you".Clara said with a smile.

Cleopatra put some makeup on to hide the bruises on her face as she walked slowly out of the door and down the stairs.
She saw Theodore sitting in one of the chairs in the sitting room,as soon as he saw her,he stood up and placed his hands behind him humbly.

"Lord Theodore,to what do I owe this visit".Cleopatra said softly.

"Just call me Theodore, anyway I came to give you back something you forgot at the party last night". Theo said as he looked at her,he noticed a small bruise at the side of her neck but brushed the thoughts of.

"Oh I don't remember forgetting anything at the gala yesterday". Cleopatra said as she raked her brain to remember.

"Then you need to work on your forgetfulness". Theo said as he brought out a small purse that looked like gold,that was when Cleopatra remembered that she must have forgotten it at the table during the gala.

"Thank you Lord Theodore". She said as she curtsied, then she stretched her hands towards the purse and when their fingers touched she froze,his skin was soft and tender and his palms were large but meek,she expected it to be quite calloused but instead it was the exact opposite .Even Theo felt tingly as his skin brushed hers,her skin was so fair and beautiful and soft but very pale.

"Pleasure". Theo said as he placed his hands behind his back again, a bad habit of his,Cleopatra took the purse and gave it it to one of her maids when she noticed Theo walking away.

"Why don't you stay for some tea". Cleopatra blurted out without thinking, she didn't know why but being close to Theodore made her want to smile.

"I am very busy". Theo said as he saw her disappointed expression."But thank you,for your hospitality". Theo said as he nodded his head and walked away.

She felt a twig of hurt that she couldn't run after him or touch his soft skin,she really wanted to be around him.

"Okay then,say hello to lady Evelyn". Cleopatra said as she waved him goodbye and retreated to her room.

In her room she felt so lonely so she sat on a rocking chair and decided to close her eyes,she always loved closing her eyes and imagining things,imagining a different where she was a man not a weak woman with nothing to do but summit to her wicked husband.

In her imagination,she was strong,able and handsome, she had a crown on her head and a coat on her body,she also had a sword that was on fire,she had the body of a warrior.

"Warrior Sir please have mercy on my son". A woman Cleopatra imagined to be her mother in-law Queen begged as she knelt down.

"Who is this son you speak of". Cleopatra asked in her deep baritone voice.

"His name is Aaron,I swear he did not mean to hit his wife". Queen begged in her tattered clothes.

"Bring Aaron to me". Cleopatra said as Queen dragged Aaron to the throne.

"You would be punished for your sins". Cleopatra roared and the earth shook,Aaron looked scared as he held the hem of her dress.

"Please warrior don't punish me,I have admitted to my mistakes,please". Aaron begged as Cleopatra raised Aaron up in the air and gave him to the bird to feast on.

Aaron screamed in pain as vulture ate his body,his mother was weeping in pain while Cleopatra kept smirking.

"You'd never hit another woman again".Cleopatra ordered as he dropped Aaron now bruised body on the ground.

And she snapped out of her trance.

"Madam you're smiling". Clara said as she looked at Cleopatra.

"Yes,I had a very interesting thought". Cleopatra said as Clara smiled.
