Chapter Fourteen

When Cleopatra opened her eyes slowly,at first all she saw were dancing pigeons,that didn't sound right,so she opened her eyes even wider and winced when she felt pain,the environment before her wasn't hers and she definitely didn't know how she got there,she panicked,she hoped she hadn't been kidnapped.
So slowly she sat up on the bed,wincing and groaning in pain,she stood up soon and walked towards the window,she looked out and saw a familiar yard but yet she couldn't remember anything, she turned around and walked towards a mirror at the side of the room, as she looked into the mirror she stood still,she couldn't believe the woman in the mirror was her.
She had a bandage wrapped around her head and she was wearing a clean white flowered gown,her legs were purple but healing and her cheeks were puffy but fine,the scar at the side of her eye was still there but it was disappearing slowly, she smelled something fresh in the room and as she followed the scent she found a mug with coffee in it,she was scared to drink it,she was even more scared to be in this unknown room.
She walked over to the door and contemplated pulling it open,she imagined scenarios where the door was locked,or the door was jammed,or her kidnapper would find out she was alive,but after much thought she went back to the bed and sat back down,she wanted to know who this kidnapper was and accept her fate.

She looked around the vintage interior of the room,just how she liked it,old fashioned but classy, she knew who ever the kidnapper was he or she must be pretty rich to have such a big room and house.
Soon the doorknob jingled and Cleopatra froze,she braced herself for whoever might be on the other side,she closed her eye tight just when the door opened.

"My Good lord you're awake".a motherly voice that Cleopatra was familiar to said.
Cleopatra opened her eyes and it was indeed Evelyn staring at her and smiling,she wondered why Evelyn would want to kidnap her,or take her captive,she knew she hadn't done anything wrong to Lady Evelyn, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

"What are my doing here". Cleopatra asked.

"My son brought you here dear". Evelyn said ever so merry,now Cleopatra wondered why Theodore would want to kidnap her.

"Was I abducted here". Cleopatra asked as she watched Lady Evelyn frown.

"What I mean to say is,I don't remember anything". Cleopatra rephrased.

"Oh my dear I understand,Theo said he saw you in the meadow all bruised and battered so he brought you to our home". Evelyn explained and that was when Cleopatra regained her memory,but she knew her bruises were far worse than this.

"How long have I been here". Cleopatra asked concerned.

"A week dear". Evelyn said and Cleopatra almost fainted.

"One full week". She asked unbelievably as Evelyn nodded.
But Cleopatra wasn't just shocked because she had spent one week at another man's house,she was scared because she knew Aaron wouldn't have taken that long to find her,she hoped he didn't know where he was.

"Did anyone come to look for me". Cleopatra asked as Evelyn sat close to her on the bed.

"No dear were you expecting anyone". Evelyn asked.

"Yes Maria". Cleopatra lied although she did miss Maria too.

"Would you like to go out dear,maybe the garden". Evelyn asked nicely as Cleopatra widened her eyes in happiness.

"You have a garden". Cleopatra asked as Evelyn chuckled,Cleopatra had always stayed indoor she had forgotten what a garden looked like.

They walked out of the house and into the big beautiful garden,she stepped on the grass and stretched while her bones make a relieving sound,she couldn't believe she could feel so good.

"I'll just leave you be".Evelyn said as she left Cleopatra alone.

Cleopatra closed her eyes and lay flat on the grasses as she made snow angels with her hands on the grass.

"May I join you".a deep baritone said as Cleopatra opened her eyes.

"Lord Theodore um of course". She said as he smiled and sat down with her.

"I wanted to thank you for helping me".Cleopatra stared,she felt shy talking to someone in such a serene place.

"It was no problem at all". Theodore said honestly as he looked at her.

"But may I ask what happened to you".Theodore said as he eyed her tensed state, Cleopatra didn't want to divulge what happened but she had no other choice, she was indebted to him.

"I......I.....its". Cleopatra tried but no words left her mouth.

"Its okay if you don't want to". Theo assured.

"No,I want to, just let me". Cleopatra said as Theodore nodded.

"Well where do I begin,my life since I got married has been centered on stern rules, rules that I am not permitted or allowed to break,those rules being that I don't ever leave the house,like ever,but I....well I broke it so....so he".

"Hit you". Theodore completed as Cleopatra nodded.
He didn't know why but his heart was filled with anger when he heard this,he couldn't believe a man could be as heartless as to trash his own wife.

"Is this the first time he had done it". Theodore asked Cleopatra as she looked away.

"No,it has been going on for over two years now". Cleopatra sniffed as Theodore looked at her in shock, he couldn't imagine want she must have been going through,he had a new sense of respect for Cleopatra and less for Aaron.

"Am sorry". Theodore apologised, he didn't know what else to say to make her feel better.

They sat there quietly, no one wanting to disrupt the peace and silence of the environment,and like magic their hands touched and their fingers intertwined,Theo looked at Cleopatra's fingers,there were pale and bruised and his heart ached.

He wished she was his,then he would give her the world,anything she wanted,but he knew it wasn't possible,for she belonged to another.
