“Are you ready kid?” Jack asked as he took her hand.

“Yes I just want to go home now.”

“Are you going to stand with me when I give my acceptance speech?”

“Of course I will.”

Jack nodded.

“We’re ready Mr President.” Jerry called.

“Ok.”

When the First Couple walked out towards the car, the press took lots of photos. Jackie ignored them and climbed into the car. Jack held her hand tightly till they got home.

Jack went straight to the podium with Jackie beside him. “Sorry it’s taken me so long to make a statement but the last few days have been very difficult for myself and Jacqueline. However, I’m very pleased that I’ve been re-elected and I promise to serve and protect our country with all my power.” Jack said.

After the applause Jack took Jackie’s arm and helped her into the house. Caroline and John appeared. They all hugged. “Mummy are you okay?” John asked.

“Tired but I’ll be fine John.”

John smiled and crawled on to his Dad’s knee. Caroline smiled and cuddled into Jackie.

The Residence

Jack came in and flopped down on to the sofa. The last two months had been hell, Jack was depressed over the miscarriage and Jackie was sad all the time. There was a low atmosphere at the White House that no one knew how to lift.

“Jack?” Jackie asked when she walked in.

“Hiya kid.”

Jackie sat down next to him and rested her head on his chest. “How are you doing?” Jackie asked quietly.

“Stressed.”

Jackie rubbed his chest. “I love you.”

“I love you too.”

“When will life get better?” Jackie asked.

“I really don’t know kid.”

She nodded. “When do we go to Europe?”

“Beginning of February, if you don’t feel up to it, you don’t have to come but I’d really appreciate it if you did come.”

“I’m coming with you; I don’t want to be without you.”

Jack kissed her head. “I don’t want to be without you either.”

“Are you looking forward to Christmas?” Jackie asked.

Jack nodded. “It’ll be good to take some time off; it’s just been so hard since the miscarriage.”

“I can’t wait to spend some alone time with you.”

Jack grinned.
