The summer break was coming to an end far sooner than Emerys would've liked.
Spending as much time with Killian as she could and having three more dates had made the time go like the wind.
She'd also landed a job at Granny's with the help of Ruby, who had become a very close friend of hers.

One mid-morning, three days before school started up again, Killian decided to visit Emerys at work.
"Hello, love." He smiled brightly, speaking over the sound of the bell at the top of the door.
"Hey Killian." She replied, an equally as bright grin on her face as she wiped her wet hands on the apron hanging on her hips. "Coffee?"
"Yes please." He said, sitting down on the bar stool in front of her.
"So this movie comes out Wednesday night and I think it'll be right up both our streets. Did you want to go? My turn to pay." Emerys smirked as she placed a cup in front of him and filled it up.
"I don't know if I can. I'll probably have some work stuff to do." Killian looked awfully guilty.
Emerys frowned. "We've never actually covered what you do for work..."
Killian shared her expression, thinking back to almost every conversation they'd ever had.
"You're right... How odd." He said. "I'm an English Literature teacher at Storybrooke High."
Emerys felt her heart skip a beat. And not in the good way.
She knew he worked with a lot of books, but never did it occur to her that she would most likely be in the same building as him on a daily basis, possibly even being taught by him...
"Oh... That's cool." She mumbled, wiping down the counter to avoid eye contact.
"It's about as 'cool' as the way you said it." Killian laughed.
"Sorry... I just didn't know what I was expecting. Now I think about it, it totally suits you." Emerys gave a small smile.
"I'm not sure how to take that." Killian raised an eyebrow.
"It was meant as a compliment, I swear." She chuckled. "You know I love literature."
"I do, indeed."

As though the last two and a half months had been a dream, the last three days went by incredibly slowly for Emerys. Killian had texted her repeatedly and, whilst she wasn't exactly avoiding him, she wasn't particularly making an effort to text back as often as she used to.
She laid on her bed the night before school having a mini heart attack just as she received the third text in a row from Killian.
'I think I can maybe do that movie Wednesday night. It suddenly occurred to me that I probably won't have any marking to do x'
'What was the movie? X'
'Are you alright, love? You haven't spoken to me all day x'
Emerys sighed heavily, thinking she should probably respond.
'Yeah, I'm fine. Just had a rough day x'
She threw her phone down on the bed next to her and wiped her face in frustration. She knew that the minute Killian saw her in school, he would flip.
Killian had seemingly just assumed she had at least graduated the first time they met and she had the bottle of Whiskey and was out until all hours of the morning. It never occurred to either of them to have the 'so how old are you?' talk.
'Would you like to talk about it? X' Killian texted back.
'It's okay. Just a day drinker in a bad mood at Granny's today x' She replied.
'Leroy per chance? He can be a real dick when he's drunk x'
'Go figure haha. I'm off to bed. Goodnight Killian. Remember how much I appreciate you x'
Her finger hesitated on the 'send' button for that text, but she sent it anyway. Part of her felt as though she was saying goodbye for good.

Killian laid in his bed reading the text over and over again with a deep set frown on his face.
He debated calling her to make sure everything was alright, but she said everything was fine and didn't want to press her if she didn't want to talk about it. But something about the 'remember how much I appreciate you' got him thinking that she was feeling a lot more than she was letting on. He just couldn't pin point what it could be.
