Chapter Nineteen - Revenge is Gonna be Mine

It was Emerys' first day back at school. Despite Killian's efforts to keep her up to date with her school work, she was still behind on a few subjects as she had no recollection of what she'd learnt over the past year and didn't have a teacher to ask. But now that she recalled and had her teachers back, she was ready to pound out her school work in time for graduation.

"Oh my gosh! Emerys, you're back!" Ruby screamed from down the hall as Emerys shoved a few books into her locker.
Ruby, Regina and Zelena crashed into the girl, smothering her in a group hug that almost suffocated the girl.
"Guys, dizzy..." She gasped out for air.
"Oh shit. Sorry Em." Regina winced. "Are you okay? Mr Joes told us you got your memories back."
Emerys touched her temple, closing her eyes to help stop her head from spinning.
"Yeah, I did. Hence the lack of 'who are you and why are you trying to choke me to death in a group hug?'" Emerys chuckled, slowly re-opening her eyes.
"Good. Despite you and Gina not being single, we can sit in Home Ec and drool over the new kid as though the past couple of weeks never happened." Zelena gave a wink of her intoxicatingly blue eye.
Emerys frowned. "New kid?"
"Yeah. He's from New Orleans like you." Regina smirked.
Emerys' heart began to throb in her chest.
"Is his name... Jake Deckard?" She asked, quietly.
"Yeah. You know him?" Ruby raised an eyebrow.
"You guys need to stay away from him. He's my ex and he's bad news. He came here before my accident. Don't get why he's going to school here though. He told me he quit school back home because he was failing."
The three girls in front of her looked between each other with unease.
"Oh shit... Gotcha. No more oogling Jake." Ruby made a mental note.

The girls sat together in English class, teasing Killian as subtly as possible now that his girlfriend was back.
It was a pleasant distraction for Emerys, but she knew that as soon as his class was over, it would be time to face the boy who'd taken all of this away from her.
"Miss Taylor?" Killian's voice snapped her out of her thoughts.
"Uh... Yes, Mr Jones?" She looked up at him as he stood directly in front of her, tapping on her desk with the tip of his pen.
"Focus please. It's your first day back and I want you caught up as soon as possible." He instructed.
Emerys simply nodded. "Sorry sir. I'm just going through some shit. I didn't mean to."
Killian frowned, taking in every inch of her facial expression.
"Less of the language, if you please, Miss Taylor. I'll talk to you outside." He said, before standing up properly to address the rest of the class. "Get on with your work. I'll be five minutes."
Killian closed his classroom door quietly and placed a hand on Emerys' shoulder.
"What is it, love?" He asked.
"Did you know Jake had enrolled here? He knows about you and I. This could ruin everything and we only have less than two months left." Emerys huffed.
Killian's eyes widened. "He's here? No, I didn't know. But as soon as my free hour comes about, I'm going straight to your father and telling him about what happened on the docks."
Emerys' eyes matched his as she shook her head almost violently. "No, Killian, you can't. You already told him Jake was gone by the time you got there. If you change your story now, he'll get suspicious."
"I won't tell him I saw him there because I didn't. I'll tell him you told Regina and Regina told me or something along those lines. But that means that, if you haven't already, you need to tell Regina at the very least in case she's asked about it."
Emerys sighed heavily, but nodded. "Alright..."

As soon as Emerys walked into Mrs Nolan's classroom, she regretted it.
There Jake sat, in her seat next to Belle who looked less than comfortable.
"Good to have you back, Emerys. I apologise for giving your seat away to Jake, here. You may sit wherever is free." Mrs Nolan gave a kind smile.
Emerys just nodded and shuffled awkwardly to the spot next to Ruby.
"Are you okay?" Ruby asked. "You look like you're about to puke."
"I feel it too." Emerys sighed.
Regina leaned over.
"Would you like me to ask Mrs Nolan if I can take you to the bathroom or the nurse or something?"
"No." Emerys shook her head, glancing over to Jake, who gave a smirk that almost made the girl wretch. "I can't take any more time out of class. But Regina, I do need to talk to you at lunch."
Regina looked slightly concerned, but nodded all the same.
