It had been a week since the sleepover and it was finally holidays. That meant that Michael was working in the workshop more, Dean was procrastinating any projects he had by texting Cas, and Sam was reading through his pile of holiday books.

It was the first day of the two week long holidays and Dean and Sam were in the living room, sprawled out on the couches. Sam's book was quite interesting; it was about a heist and it was starting to get really good (it was called Six of Crows, Charlie had recommended it) but all he was thinking about was what Gabriel had texted him that morning.

Gabriel: Cassie invited Dean over for a sleepover on Wednesday. You wanna come too?

The answer was yes. More than anything, Sam wanted to spend as much time as possible with Gabriel. But he didn't want to go for a sleepover. That meant sleeping in the same room, only a small distance away from the boy he had a crush on. So that meant he was unsure. Could he put himself through that for a night?

There was the sound of a car engine cutting and a door slamming. Sam's ears pricked up. The doorbell rang and he jumped off the couch, startling Dean who looked up from texting Cas.

"Who's that?" He asked but Sam ignored him and ran out. Throwing the front door open, he came face to face with his best friend.

"Sam!" Jess squealed and embraced him, dropping her bags. He squeezed her as tightly as he dared. He had missed her so hard it hurt. Jess pulled away with a laugh. "It's so good to see you! Have you grown taller in the past month? Sam, I told you to put a brick on your head; you're probably taller than Tony now."

He wanted to tell her everything but as soon as he went to open his mouth, Dean walked up behind them.

"Jess! What are you doing here?"

"I came for a visit," Jess explained, looking between the two brothers. "Didn't Sam tell you?"

"No," Dean said. He showed no sign of annoyance, which relieved Sam. "Did you let Ellen and Bobby know?" Sam nodded. "Okay. Well I'll go set your bed up in Sam's room. It's nice to see you again, Jess." With that, he went up stairs. Jess turned to Sam, surprise written all over her face.

"He didn't flirt with me! Is he feeling well?" Sam smiled and shook his head. Dean didn't flirt with Jess because he had someone else on his mind. He took Jess's hand, waved to her mom in the car who was talking with Bobby, and pulled Jess up the stairs with her bags. He really needed to talk to her.

"Who's this?" Jo asked from her bed when they walked in. Sam dumped Jess's bags on his mattress bed as Dean walked in with another blow up mattress and bedsheets. He put them down without a word and left.

"My name's Jess," she answered when she realised that Sam wasn't going to reply. "I'm a friend from Kansas."

"Well I'll leave you two to catch up," Jo smiled. She left the room with her laptop, closing the door behind her.

"You've gone mute," Jess observed as Sam started to unpack the mattress and pump. "Sam, I thought after the last time—"

"It's complicated," Sam croaked.

"Michael said—"

"I know, but they forced me to leave Kansas... and you."

"So it's not about your dad's death?"

"Like I care," Sam scoffed.

"So you're just ignoring your brothers, and everyone around you just because they made you leave me?" Sam nodded. "Aww Sam thats so nice and I love you for it but you need to stop."
