"Morning everyone! I hope you all settled in alright last night." Slughorn greeted as he entered the classroom with a wide smile, a mischievous undertone shining through ever so slightly.
Well, I can't lie, it was quite interesting. Harry thought as he watched the professor prepare a cauldron while still wearing that stupid grin that practically screamed 'I'm up to something'.
"Today we will be brewing Amortentia again." Several students groaned.
Aah, there it is.
Again! We've brewed it at least four times already. What is Slughorn doing? Harry thought as he turned the old stained pages of his potions textbook to the page on Amortentia.
"Professor, why are we brewing it again? We've already learnt this recipe." Hermione asked sweetly but there was still a hint of frustration in her voice.
Slughorn sighed deeply and looked at Hermione. "Miss Granger, I assure you that there is a reason but I cannot tell you."
Secrets. More bloody secrets. Hermione huffed, grabbing her quill and ink.
"You know, I'm starting to think Slughorn is in need of a slug hex, or better yet, Ginny's bat-bogey hex." Ron muttered under his breath, earning himself a smack on the back of his head from Hermione.
"Stop it, Ron!" She scolded, looking at the redhead boy beside her with fire in her eyes. Ron put his hands up in surrender and turned to the front again, still scowling at the professor.
Draco watched as Hermione left her seat to get the ingredients required and decided to follow her. He needed to talk to her, his feelings aren't just going to magically go away - though he did wish there was a spell for that.
"Malfoy! What are you doing?" Hermione gasped as he closed to supply closet door behind them. He motioned for her to stay quiet.
"Granger, look, I don't know how to say this but we need to do something about this bloody...connection." He whispered desperately and motioned between the two of them with vigour. Hermione tilted her head to the side in confusion.
"What I'm saying is that the feelings I have for you, which I have no control over what-so-ever, are driving me insane. I can't sit and watch you with that Weasel and suffer through an unwanted pang of jealousy." He explained further, giving a small shiver at the last part.
"I mean, bloody hell, I get jealous over the Weasel! In what world is that acceptable? Not mine. We need to figure something out, this is killing me." He exhaled. Draco looked into the girl's eyes with a sense of urgency, as if pleading her to help him.
Hermione sighed and nodded hesitantly.
Draco felt relieved and asked, "So, how to you suppose we go about this?"
Hermione looked at him incredulously. "Malfoy! You can't just demand that I help you and then expect me to come up with a bloody plan as well! It's high time you start solving your own problems and stop relying on others to spoon feed your bloody over-privileged arse." She said sternly.
The two agreed to speak about this later and returned to their desks, casually working on their projects as if nothing had happened. The class was oddly quiet as the pairs finished up their potions.
Slughorn called on Hermione to test her potion and she looked at him with a "You're on thin ice" glare. She huffed and stood up, making her way to the front of the class.
"OK, I smell...old parchment, freshly cut grass, spearmint toothpaste...and... and... apples?"
Her brows creased and suddenly her eyes widened in horror.
