For at least an hour, I hang around there.
Either sitting under the midday sun, pacing around or yelling Parker's name into the field.
Then I see Parker's face peek through the blades of tall grass.
"Hey." I say simply, holding an open hand up to him. I could wave, but I decide to not. Just play it cool. I'm still touched that he'd went in there after me though.
Parker nods, "And I thought you were lost. How long have you been here for?".
"Not sure, maybe an hour? And I was lost, I just walked in a straight line in one direction until I got out." I smile sweetly.
"Huh, nice strategy. It wouldn't work in a lot of situations though." Parker steps out of the field and makes his way over to me.
I pout dramatically. But it just makes him laugh. Good, that was the intention anyway.
"So, did you catch anything?" Parker asks, sitting down beside me on the ground.
"Yeah, two I think. An Eevee and something that I just threw a Poké Ball at." Is my answer, watching Parker slide closer to Gary. He pokes Gary's leg with his boot. As soon as Gary stirs, he retreats back to me.
"Good job." Is his only comment.
"Do you think we should get going? And I think Gary just wants to sleep." I rise to my feet, my shadow blocking the sun from Parker's face.
"Yeah, you should probably get home. And bathe, you really should look at yourself. You're covered in dirt." He teases, grinning.
"Fine." I turn my nose up at him, making sure that the action is melodramatic again.
This just gets Parker to chuckle even more, "You sure are dramatic too, on purpose? It seems that way.".
"An actress never reveals her secrets." I say with a divine smile.
"Let's just go." Are my next words, I help Parker to his feet.
Before we leave, Parker sneaks around Gary's sleeping form and nicks a couple of blue berries off his berry tree. I stifle a laugh with my hand.
For once, Parker takes the actual route back to my house. Not through any forests or shortcuts.
Just the classic dirt road.
Thankfully, Ellie and my mother aren't home yet when we eventually get there. We've beaten them back.
Immediately, I rush back up to my bedroom. Within a few minutes, I've undressed and gotten into the shower. I leave the Poké Balls under my pillow, just in case my mother comes back early and comes in. My casual clothing is hidden in a drawer in my bathroom suite.
