"You want to go with him?!" My mother shrieks, her hair starts to frizz up in her anger.

"Yes, I do. But what about the vote? Isn't that fair? Majority rules." My voice sounds weak and pleading.

It's just my desperation, I don't want Parker to leave New Bark Town without me.

"Well, I think the vote is fair." My father thankfully speaks up for me, at least he knows what I want. And he understands too, my mother always does say that I'm too much like him.

So the vote continues.

My father, Jae and Ellie all vote for yes, that I could go. My father's only condition was that I sent letters and kept in contact with the family.

I'd definitely agree to that.

My mother, Simon and Alexander all say that I should stay at home.

"An even vote..." I mumble sadly.

Whenever it's an even vote, my mother calls the shots. To my father, a mother normally knows what's best for her daughter.

That's just the way he was brought up, so I don't blame him.

"Mr Jordan, I believe you know where the door is. It's time to go, for you of course. Lilac is staying here, where she belongs." My mother hisses.

Ellie passes Parker his huge backpack with a sad expression on her face.
