Justin and Audrey came home and I was feeling a little bit better. It felt like they were gone forever and I was losing my mind because of the heavy weight on my shoulders. I knew they couldn't wait to meet Issac. I was happy for them. I smiled and kissed Justin.
"Happy you're home."
"Happy to be home." He replies. Months have passed and I finally got on board with the veterans foundation I wanted to start. I've been doing lots of meetings, fundraising, and conferences lately that I've barely had time for work. You could say this is my other job but, lately, I've been so busy wanting to do everything perfectly. A month ago, Derek considered becoming a contractor because he loved outside work, he thought becoming a doctor would remind him of what happened in the war, which was understandable. I'm happy he's doing something that he's comfortable with. I've gotten so many vets off the streets into shelters and given them so many jobs that I've made a name for myself. My dad and Kristie finally got married and adopted a kid of their own. Justin has been releasing music here and there just to have something to do, and give something to the fans and Kathy..well..nothing has changed about her. I'm at a Gala where I'm surrounded by successful people that could help build people careers, Justin was visiting his parents, but he insisted that I invited Derek to come since he wasn't busy. I saw him chatting with a couple of people, seeing them handing him a card walking away. I was too distracted seeing him getting recognition, I forgot I was having a conversation of my own. He looks up and notices that I was looking at him, he smiles and raised his glass, I smiled and did the same.
"Excuse me for one sec," I said before walking off, going towards Derek. "I see you got a business card."
"Yeah. They asked me what I do for a living, told them I was a contractor and surprisingly, they were both one. They wanted me to come work for them."
"That's good, isn't it?"
"Yeah, it is good. What about you? You're clearly a celebrity now."
"I am not. I just branched myself out there after getting the foundation started."
"I'm proud of you Adrian, I am. You deserve to get noticed, you're a hard worker, and you never quit. I like that about you. Thanks for inviting me."
"Thank Justin, he went to visit his parents, something about his brother in the hospital. I hope he's okay. You look great, nice tuxedo."
"Thanks, I got fitted for it, cost a thousand bucks but it was worth every penny. I may even decide to get back out there, I got like six phone numbers already, plus on the road to getting drunk."
"Well be careful, I don't want to see your name on the news because some crazy chick kidnapped you."
"I love that you're concerned about me, thanks, but I'll be careful and I'll wear protection, I brought some, just in case I got lucky." He says looking at a blonde walking past him. "And that may be the lucky crazy chick. Don't wait up, see you tomorrow. You look great by the way." He winked, kissing my cheek walking away. I scoffed and rolled my eyes, I noticed my phone was vibrating. I dug in my purse taking it out seeing Justin was calling. I went to the nearest bathroom and answered it.
"Hey, is everything okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, everything is fine. How is the Gala superstar?"
"It's fine, Derek is probably sleeping with some blonde right now. He ditched me."
"Well, that's Derek doing what he does best. He's been single for months, he's finally getting back to his old self. I'm proud of him. Aren't you? He's finally getting over Jessa."
