I went to surprise Adrian at work with food from Bobs Burgers after her surgery, we sat outside on the concrete in front of the hospital watching the cars drive by eating our food.

"How was your first time leading surgery?" I asked.

"It was a success, maybe I'll be getting lots of those. Who knows I may end up being the president of this place. That's crazy, running a huge hospital for veterans."

"How do you feel about that? Is that something you can handle?" I asked, she didn't respond for a second, I looked at her and saw she was crying. I scooted close to her holding her. "What's wrong?"

"It's- the thought of me actually running this place. It feels like Derek is looking out for me; this is what I've wanted to do for the longest and...it may happen. These are happy tears Justin. It's crazy how I got to lead surgery out of nowhere. I've been absent due to you disappearing, with my dad dying and Derek..how does that just happen unexpectedly? I was so surprised that David asked me to lead surgery and it was a success. I feel like..maybe I couldn't handle all of that, making things run smoothly, everyone's doing their job, approving different surgeries..it's a lot."

"Of course it'll be a lot, maybe this would be a good thing, it'll be good for the foundation. Knowing you're running this place and doing amazing things for veterans that needs help. Adrian, opportunities don't just wait for you when you're ready. You can't get that opportunity back, plus it's more money."

"It was never about the money when I started here, I actually wanted to help people. People that others wouldn't bat an eye for. I didn't think I would end up here, but, I'm managing. We can talk about all this later, thanks for bringing dinner, you drove all the way to Calabasas to get burgers?"

"Yeah, he heard about Dan and Derek passing and told me they were on the house. I even got you your favorite strawberry shake."

"You're going to make me cry again." She laughed. "This is exactly what we ate when we left prom. God it's been so long since prom, I feel old. Hey, I don't want to get remarried, I like this..the way we are now. We don't need to go through all that trouble." She says grabbing my hand holding it.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. I'm sure, we're good..better than ever. I love you, I really..really do." She says, I smiled and kissed her, showering her face with kisses, she giggles laying her head on my shoulder still holding my hand. "Maybe I was wrong..maybe there is an happy ending to all of this." She says looking at me. "Don't you think?"

"Yeah. I think so." I said kissing her, she pulls away and smile. "Are you on break?"

"Yeah only for another twenty minutes." She replied, I got up and threw our food away, helping her up, taking her to my car. We hopped into the backseat and started having sex.

"Oh my god, that was so amazing."

"We should do that more often, car sex is so much fun. Plus, this is my first time doing something like this."

"I thought I would spice things up a bit. Is it time for you to go?" I asked putting my shirt on.

"Just a couple more minutes, ugh, I don't want to go now. I just want to cuddle and look at the sick ass view in bed with you. I literally have to file papers once I get back in there." She says putting her clothes on.
