Audrey fell asleep on my shoulder. I put her into bed tucking her in. I kissed her forehead lightly before turning the lamp off. I sat down on the sofa turning the television on hearing the elevator door open, seeing Adrian stepping off making her way into the living room."Hey, I apologize how we left things." She says taking her coat off laying it on the sofa.
"It's alright, I'm over it."
"No Justin, you were right. I'm pressuring her into forgetting about her dad and, I don't know why. I don't want you to feel like you don't have a say in her life, you're her dad too."
"I talked to her already, she's fine. She's not upset anymore. I promise, can we just leave it alone?"
"How are we ever going to fix things if you want to push things to the side?" She asks, I sighed and turned the television off.
"Okay, fine let's talk."
"I sounded kinda bitchy earlier. How she feels matters, it always matter to me. I just thought that since I'm okay with what happened, I thought she would be okay with it too."
"Babe she's a kid. You can't expect her to feel the same way as you. She's not used to all of this. But you are. And..you did sound kinda bitchy."
"I know, and you made a valid point. I do want her to be involved in the foundation. But she has school and other priorities. I'm not taking that away from her. Once she's old enough to handle things, then I will let her help and do whatever she wants."
"I understand where you're coming from. But maybe she can do things after school, once she's done with practices and homework. She'll have time to do all of that. You're going to Washington in December..I was wanting to sign her and Issac up for this traditional thing they're having at the cemetery for vets. It's not dangerous or anything, they're literally putting wreaths out by their headstone. It should be fun. For the four of us. Don't be so hard on her."
"I'm not, I'm being a parent. I think she talks to you more because you're the good cop and you never say no to her."
"I can say no to her. And I'm not always the good cop, she just needs a break."
"Did she give you the puppy dog eyes?"
"Maybe. She looked sad." I said she giggles and rolls her eyes.
"And she will get you every time, but I'm sorry. I was wrong, you were right." She says holding my hand.
"That's something I don't hear very often. But I'm sorry too."
"Why are you sorry?"
"I don't know. I felt like I should apologize too." I said, she smiles and kisses me passionately. "Audrey knows about what I did to Mario. I can't do this anymore. I can't risk putting her, you, or my son in jeopardy. I can't lose you again Adrian. I'm not gonna let that happen." I said, she nods her head kissing me again. "Did you see your long loss friend?"
"Oh my god yes." She says laughing. "I never would've expected her to like girls, y'know with her being crazy about Jonas. You knew and didn't tell me it was her."
"I would've ruined the surprise." I said laughing.
"I think they have something in common, and that's not liking you. But it's okay, cause I like you..very, very much." She says snuggling up to me. "Are the kids asleep?"
