"Take the city, accept any who surrender though. I will not be the Queen of Death or Injustice. Those who lay down the sword will be shown mercy. When you find Daenerys, do not harm or kill her, she is mine to finish".
The officers from the Vale, Dornish, Iron Islands, Northern armies nodded in understanding. Natari had placed Sandor in overall charge of her forces with Davos, she had also sent Arya into the Red Keep to dig out Daenerys whilst the larger forces regained control of the city. Sansa and she would wait outside the city walls with Brienne and a small number of trusted knights to protect them from any potential attacks.
"Ring the bells when the city is taken, Arya will light the signals with a green powder to tell me when she has capture Dany. Other than that I want the men to keep their wits about them, I do not wish to lose any more of our people. This is the Last War, not the beginning of more".
Sandor had brought his horse over to her before he prepared to march on with the armies. "You have a knack for his leadership. Not that I didn't know that before, bossing me around all these years".
Natari smiled warmly at her husband as he walked over to him and placed a hand on his leg. "And I trust you'll know what I'll do if you do not return to us".
"A fate worse than death to disappoint my Queen" he winked.
Natari laughed at him again, how this man, the once grumpy hound which would only glare at her from across halls was now making jokes as they prepared to finish a lifetime of war was beyond her. Yet still, she loved him more at that moment than ever before and with one last loving glance, slapped his horse of the bum and watched him ride off towards the city.
"This day will be remembered forever, the way you have led the people with such bravery and passion. It is an honor to stand as a guard for you today my grace" Brienne announced proudly as they watched the rest of the men ride off to battle.
"This will not just be my victory. This would not be possible with you those men we watch ride into the city. We would have never got this far if it wasn't for the bravery of people such as yourself and Lady Sansa. It is you and the many who have helped us along the way that I am proud to know".
The wait for any signal was long and painful for those to waited on the outskirts, but it was the green smoke from the chimneys of the Red Keep which they saw first.
"My grace, the city has not yet been secured it is too unsafe to venture inside" Brienne pleaded as Natari readied her horse.
"I will be just fine my lady. Stay here and protect my sweet sister, this is something I must do alone".
Sansa nodded and placed her hand on Brienne to hold her back and with one last smile, Natari lifted herself with her small baby bump onto the horse and galloped off towards the city. Inside the city walls, Natari readied herself to fight against any potential lingering unsullied or Dothraki, but thankfully the fight for the city seemed to have moved to the east, giving her a perfectly clear path to the city.
At the entrance of the keep the last dragon, Drogon, laid resting under a thick cover of ash. When she approached the entrance doors, the large creature shuck away the snow colored ash and turned his large eyes to Natari.
"You won't hurt me. She may be your mother but I am also the blood of the dragon" she smiled and gently touched her hand to his nose before quickly walking past him and into the keep.
Natari knew where Daenerys would be, sat on the Iron Throne, her prize for all blood split at her command. Never again would she allow such a force of death and destruction wash across the lands she called home and today she would ensure that. Walking through the red keep, the place which had been her home for several miserable months. In these walls she had loved, lost and loved again, here she had experienced the first pleasures in love at the hands of her now husband and also witnessed the death of the man she would always love as her father. Walking through those same corridors now sent a chill through her body and in that moment she swore a promise to herself. When this last war was complete, this castle, this city, would become a place of hope and light, a home for all who only asked.
When Natari reached the grand hall, half the walls were destroyed, burnt away by dragon fire. Despite all the destruction though, stood proudly at the end of the hall was the Iron Throne with it a thousand swords of long fallen men. Sat on the throne was the reason she had returned to this city and standing behind that was Arya Stark with the blade, once used in the murder attempt of her brother, at the neck of the dragon queen.
"I told you I would return" Natari spoke first as she walked up the grand hall and to the steps of the Iron Throne.
"And so you have. Your little sister - cousin wore a different face" Daenerys hissed as Arya pulled her back by pressing the blade down closer to her neck.
Natari cocked her head to the side and smiled back at Arya. "Sister you have done so well, but what happens next must end with just her and I. Return to Sansa now and I shall find you there".
Daenerys did not move her eyes away from Natari as Arya slowly stepped away and walked back towards Natari. When she reached her sister, Arya placed the blade in Natari's hand and nodded before finally running out of the grand hall.
"So this is how it will end for us? You are going to stab your own blood?" Daenerys called out and stepped up from the throne.
"Just like you killed Jon. You made your decision that day when you killed thousands of innocent for a right that was never yours. Well blood of mine or not, today you will pay for your crimes. No longer will a true trident rule over our lands. My father once told me that the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword, so Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of her Name, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons, I, Natari of the House Clegane, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men sentence you to die".
