"You can come in. If you want to.." I say to Daniel once I park his car in my driveway. "Ma has a double today."

"Double?"

"She doesn't come home till noon tomorrow."

"How long you be wanting me to stay over?" Daniel asks with an eyebrow raised.

"Well maybe we could sit and chill and maybe get some wings for dinner. Have a beer or two?"

Daniel smiles at the wings and beer part. "Okay, I'm getting out of the car and walking to your door."

I smile and hop out of the car, "god I've always wanted a guy best friend."

Daniel laughs as we walk up to the door. "You never had a guy best friend?"

I shake my head and open the door, "Bailey since first grade."

"Weren't you and Thomas close?"

"I mean we were, but we were never the best friends that hangout and Ma approve of."

Daniel flops on my couch and runs his hands through his hair. "What's with you calling your mom 'Ma'?"

I shrug. "It's just what I do." I kick off my shoes, "you wanna beer?"

"Yeah, I'll take one."

"Miller Light or Budweiser?" I ask from the bottom of the stairs.

"Budweiser."

"Good because that's the only shit I got." I jog up the stairs and walk to the mini fridge that's in my room.

"You keep your beer in a fridge in your room?"

I turn around two beers in hand and see Daniel. "Ma knows I have the fridge. Ma knows I drink and stuff,  but she doesn't want it in the main fridge."

"That also means the beer doesn't go downstairs right?"

I nod, "Ma ain't home though." I hold out a beer for Daniel to grab.

"We can't break your mom's rules while we in her house." Daniel says taking a seat on my bed.

I pop the tab of the can, "fine." I drop onto my bed, next to Daniel.

Daniel takes a sip of his beer.

I take a sip of mine.

He takes a sip of his beer.

I take a sip of mine.

"Ashlyn, can I ask you something?" Daniel says breaking the silence.

"Sure."

Daniel places his beer on my nightstand and faces me. "What's your perfect guy?"

What? Did he really just ask me that? Okay well, basically it's.. something. Like uh.. Something like Daniel? "Well I like guys that you can't really figure out at first glance. Guys that always have a secret. Guys that have a talent that's a secret."

"I have a special talent." Daniel says with a smirk.

"You sing."

"How'd you know?"

"Instagram." I say holding up my phone in my free hand. "Just typed in Daniel Seavey."

"Okay, Ashlyn. Do you have a special talent?"

"The piano that you walked past in my living room, I play it. Quite well."

"Bailey know you play piano?"

"Bailey know you sing?"

Daniel shakes his head no. "Exactly. That's what I thought." I say before downing the rest of my beer. "I'm going to go to the bathroom."

"Don't be too long."

I stop at the bathroom door and turn around, "if you shut up the faster I'll be done."

"Okay do what you got to do."

I step into my bathroom and close the bathroom door. I take a deep breath and look in the mirror. "Ashlyn Nicole Grey, you drink anymore you'll slip up and hit on Daniel. We don't need that. Why don't we need that? Because she's Daniels boyfriend thingy. Maybe?"

There's a knock on the door, "hey Ashlyn. Someone's calling you."

I shake my head and open the door and walk over to my bed where my phone is. Thomas? Why is Thomas calling me.

"Hey Meron, why you calling?"

"Do you know where Daniel is?"

"No. Why?"

"He made some bets last night and he needs to pay them. I called Bailey and she doesn't know either, but he really doesn't even know anyone else."

"I'll call him."

"Thanks."

"Don't mention it melon head."

"Bye Ashlyn."

I hang up and look at Daniel. "Are you fucking serious?"

Daniel looks up from his phone, "what?"

"You made some bets last night and now you have to pay some people?"

Daniel drops his head into his hands, "okay so I made some drunk decisions."

"Stupid ones."

"Yeah I know."

"How much do you owe them?"

"Five hundred."

This boy. He's kidding me right. "You're kidding right?"

"No and I can't pay it either, I don't have that kind of money right now."

"I do."

"And how does that help me?" Daniel asks taking a sip of his beer.

"I'll make you a deal. Every hundred dollars is one thing you owe me."

"So like if me, you, and Bailey are out at the mall and you really wanna pretzel, but you don't have you're wallet. You're gonna look at me and go you owe me?"

I nod my head, "yeah basically."

"Okay deal." Daniel says sticking out hand for me to shake.

"Okay deal." I shake his hand. "Now get out of my room so I can get the money from its secret place.
