They say you can always be prepared for what happens in life. I like to disagree with that statement. Why you might ask because of Daniel and I's decisions over thanksgiving break, we're sitting in the principal's office with Bailey. Well actually Bailey and her mom, and then my mom and Daniel has Tyler.

"Okay, Ms. Grey please explain from your point of view what happened." Mr. Jones says breaking the silence.

I take a deep breath in, "me and Bailey got into a disagreement before me and Daniel left for thanksgiving break. I told Daniel about it one night on the trip. That same night one of Daniel's friends wanted to use his snap to text a girl and Daniel said sure. The next morning we wake up Daniel logs back into his snap and then he has thousands of notifications. He calls his friend to which his friend explains that Bailey slept with him and then claimed he raped her."

"It was rape." Bailey cuts in.

I glare at her, "explain."

"What?" she asks puzzled.

"Explain how he raped you since you haven't explained it to anyone else."

Bailey gulps, "we were at a friends house and we were drinking and there was some weed. That night I was flirting with him, I guess you could call it that.  Then we started talking and he asked if I wanted to go upstairs, I said sure. So we got upstairs and we just talked and then I leaned in to kiss him, and he just pinned me on the bed. Started taking off my clothes and whispering in my ear the things he wanted to do to me. And then he was just doing it."

I shake my head, "that sounds like the exact way you lost your virginity to Daniel which I find hysterical because they are friends."

Bailey's face is red as she stands up out of her chair, "Thomas did rape me."

"No he fucking didn't Bailey, he has the video of you consenting. Telling him to keep going." Bailey's face goes pale and her eyes go wide, "Thomas might only care about sex when it comes to most girls, and he might have had some shit in his system, but you know damn well that he was raised better to if he heard a no he'd stop," crossing my arms.

A tear falls, "it's not fair you get everything," she murmurs.

"The hell is that supposed to mean?" I ask.

"You got Daniel, you got a nice house, a nice car."

"Bailey, you know none of that is true."

"You seem happier than me. Like always happier.

"Because I don't let my happiness depend on everyone else."

Bailey shakes her head, "and I lost the most important thing to me."

"What's that?"

"You."

"Oh."

"I'm sorry, but you screwed that up yourself," I say scratching the back of my neck.

"I only tried to keep you away from Daniel because I love you!" Bailey shouts.

"If you loved me you wouldn't have made me chose," I argue.

"But we would be so much better," she mumbles.

"What?"

"Ashlyn, I wasn't keeping you away from Daniel because he's a bad guy. I mean he's not. I was keeping you away from him because I wanted you to myself because I'm in love with you." Bailey confesses playing with her hands.

She didn't just say that, did she? Bailey. In love with me? A girl. This crazy boy obsessed ass girl, is in love with me? I cackle and shake my head. "You're unbelievable." I get out of my chair and grab my bag and stand.

I look at everyone, everyone's eyes wide and mouths agape, "show's over, I'm leaving. I'll make sure nothing ever happens like this on my watch again." I announce. I turn around and walk out of Mr. Jones office and walk right to my car without one stop. I don't even care that we haven't made it to lunch. I just don't want to deal with people. I can't go to Retro's that's the first place everyone will look for me. So I settle on going to Barnes and Noble's.

I'm about a quarter way through 'A Secret Letter' when I senes someone sitting next to me.

I hold the page and look to my right.

Daniel.

"What do you want?" I ask.

"Why'd you run?" he asks bluntly.

"Because dealing with Bailey's bullshit is a lot."

Daniel chuckles, "yeah I've noticed. How'd you put up with her for so long?"

"Because she was my best friend," I state.

Was. Past tense. As in not currently. Not anymore.

Damn.
