New Boy [Daniel Seavey]

"So how many classes do we have together?" Daniel whispers from behind me.

"Five."

"And what classes are those?"

"English, music theory, chemistry, calculus, and gym."

"Really?"

I nod my head, "yeah. Now shut up I'm trying to listen."

"Ms. Grey can you tell me what another name for a covalent bond is?" Mr Nolan asks.

I roll my eyes and look up from my notebook, "molecular bond sir."

"And what is a covalent bond?"

"It's a chemical bond that involves the sharing of electron pairs between atoms."

"Good job Ashlyn. Okay, so we covered covalent bonds. Can anyone tell me what a hydrogen bond is?" He waits a few seconds and then points his finger out, "Mr Seavey."

"A hydrogen bond is a primarily electrostatic force of attraction between a hydrogen atom which is covalently bound to a more electronegative atom or group." Daniel says effortlessly. Okay. How did that blond headed boy know that so fast? I turn and look across the room, making eye contact with Daniel. I raise my eyebrows sending him a question about how he knew the answer. He smiles and hold up the textbook. I shake my head and turn back to my notebook.

The bell rings and the teacher dismisses us, but not before telling us that we have to write a summary about what we learned in class for homework tonight. Great, it's the second day of school and we're already getting homework assignments. I exit the classroom and walk to my locker, so I can get my things for calculus. Which I'm not happy to go to because I have that class with Daniel too. Along with practically every other one and he always seems to try and talk to me. 

"Ashlyn Nicole Grey!" I hear Bailey say.

"Yes?"

"Why didn't you tell me that you had five classes with the new boy?" she says crossing her arms.

"His names Daniel Seavey, first off. Second off, I didn't think it was a big deal." I say closing my locker and locking the lock. 

"Okay I need your help," Bailey tells.

"With what?"

"Daniel."

"What exactly with Daniel?" I ask arching my eyebrow.

"I want his number." 

I laugh. "You really want his number?" 

Bailey nods her head vigorously. 

"I'll get it and then give it to you at lunch." I say with a smile.

"Really?" she asks in a high pitched voice.

"Yeah really, but I gotta go to class. I'll see you at lunch."

"Love you." Bailey says waving

"You too." I say over my shoulder as I walk towards calculus.
