Black Drink

The two days went by in a blur for Minhyun because he was stuck in his room, trying to recover. The maid had came back to tell him that she did what was asked and also relayed how Baekho wanted him to care of himself. Minhyun felt like crying when he heard that. He felt guilt clamp down in his chest because he couldn't do anything to stop this from happening and he hadn't been eating or sleeping well either. Nevertheless, she still made sure to bring him his meals in time and got ointment from the doctor for him. He thanked her a lot too.

As for Baekho, he used one day to try to convince his brothers but they wouldn't listen too. They even headed out to town just to avoid him for the day. He was helpless and didn't know what to do. He tried to gather the troops during the second day but the knights weren't prepared for a battle. The most they could do was just rally a small group to try to stop whatever was coming. Baekho was really worried they would get swallowed this time. Even with proper preparations the last time, Minhyun's army alone was enough to take them on. He couldn't imagine what Minhyun's sister could do especially after hearing what she did to Minhyun.

The two were torn with fear and didn't know what would happen once it starts. On the day itself, Minhyun's sister entered his room with her armor already on. She was smiling brightly at him with a flask in hand.

"Hey, my dear brother," She said in a happy tone that he found disgusting as he pulled himself up from bed. "I've got a little gift for you and also, I've asked mother permission to bring you along with me and you can't say no."

She handed him the flask and stood back as though she was waiting for something. Minhyun wasn't expecting this. He didn't know he was going to be dragged along to the battlefield itself. He wasn't prepared to face Baekho right now. He looked at the flask,  questioning the contents.

"Oh, come on. Don't be such a wuss and just drink it," She huffed. Minhyun was hesitant but knew she would force it down his throat if he refused so he opened the flask. He sniffed it a little but there wasn't any smell to it. He was suspicious but slowly drank it all so she wouldn't make any more noise. Her smile was beaming though and it just made him afraid. He had no idea what it was he just drank after all. "Good. Now let's go."

He didn't want to but he did. He quickly took a shower and put on proper clothing before heading to the armor room to get his own stuff. He didn't have a lot of things to put on since he was never the heavy armored kind. His sister was impatiently tapping her foot when he walked up to her. He stopped when he noticed someone else beside her.

His father. The king.

"Father?" He said out of shock. The tall male glanced at him but didn't say a word as he mounted his horse. Minhyun gulped, feeling himself internally sweating. This wasn't going to go well at all, was it?

"Well, the old man is going too so you better step your game up. Little brother, " his sister sneered as she got onto her own horse. He tried to calm his breathing down as he followed suit. This was awkward for him but more frightening than anything else too. He gripped the reins, feeling his stomach twist. He felt like throwing up and wasn't sure if it was because of all that liquid his sister made him drink.

"Onwards to the White Tiger Kingdom!" His sister commanded and the troops started heading out. She went ahead with the king but Minhyun stayed behind. He was never really the kind who went to the frontlines unless deemed necessary. Plus he was all sorts of nervous as his horse jogged to keep up with the rest of the bunch.

He silently prayed that Baekho wouldn't be harmed. Hoping and hoping the other wouldn't do such a stupid thing like fending off an army alone again. Hoping that even if he got captured, he would get off easy.

But it seemed like prayers don't work even if you pray hard sometimes.

He stared out at the small army gathered to protect the White Tiger kingdom. In the middle of them all was him. On his white stead and shining armor. Minhyun dug his fingers harder into the reins.

"Well, this was unexpected but... of course, it's such a disappointment as well," his sister said loudly as her horse strode forward. "What makes you think your measly troop can hold back your demise for long?"

Baekho didn't step forward but the head knight of their kingdom did. Minhyun was too distracted looking at Baekho to even listen to the banter that was happening with his sister and the head knight. Baekho was also staring straight at Minhyun, as though they were having a silent conversation. Even though Minhyun couldn't see the other's face that was covered, he wondered why he could feel his presence as well as the urge to just ride over and pull him into a tight hug, telling him how much he missed him. He pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind as he noticed his sister coming up to him.

"Father said he wants you to be at the front too. A son of his shouldn't be at the back," She said with a hint of annoyance. Minhyun nodded and followed her to the front. He watched Baekho's reaction and saw a little twitch from the armor. "I wonder which one of them is the lucky one... or maybe it's just a normal girl in that measly kingdom."

Minhyun held his tongue back, trying to control his expression and temper.

"Nevermind that. I'm sure this person will show themselves very soon. After all, your life is going to change from here on out."
