I woke up in Jabez's bed. I got up and got scared. What if his mom saw me? I started getting dressed. Its 5 am and school starts at 8am.

I was about to head out but I heard Jabez move around.

"Baby where you going?"

Damn his tired voice sounded so sexy.

I squeezed my eyes. "Um I was gonna go home..you know to get ready for school." I said.

"Fuck school I'm tryna chill with you."

I smiled. "Come on Jabez we have to go."

"I really don't feel it. I'm gonna say I'm sick."

I smiled and sat back on the bed. "Where's your mom?" I asked.

"Vacation."

I got on the bed again and kissed him. "Jabez senior year is important to me." I said.

"Fine, I'll drop you off."

"No lay down. I'll just get a Uber." I said smiling.

"Okay but I'm picking you up." Jabez said.

I got a Uber to my house and got ready.

I got dropped of by Makayla.

School went by pretty quick today. I met with Aria before leaving.

"Hey girl hey." Aria said.

"Hey sis." I said smiling. "You're not mad at me right?"

"No the question is are you mad at me?" She laughed.

"No I'm not."

"Well me neither." Aria said smiling."You wanna go with me and Tommy?"

"Umm.." I said.

"What? I know you're not busy." She said looking in my eyes.

I looked the other way.

"Asia!! You're back with Jabez?!" She asked.

"We're not together." I said rolling my eyes. "But we were together last night."

"So that's where you were. You're lucky mom had a late shift." Aria said.

"I know. Thanks for not rafting me out." I said.

"No problem." Aria said smiling. "You and Jabez can always hang with us."

"Okay I'll ask him." I said.

"Yay double date!" Aria squealed. 

"No it's not that. We're friends hanging out." I said.

Aria rolled her eyes. "Whatever."

"Where's Tommy?" I asked.

"He's outside." Aria said.

We heard a gunshot or a fire work.

"Was that a gunshot or fire work?" Aria asked.

"I'm not sure."

A bunch of people rushed past us all going outside.

"The fuck? Y'all excused." Aria said.

"Exactly. It's probably a fight. Cmon let's go."

"Wait you're not scared?"

"Come on Aria we will just hurry up."

We went out and saw a crowd of people. I looked around. It was Jabez on the ground bleeding. He got shot near his stomach.

"Oh shit." Aria said.

My jaw dropped. I pushed past everyone. "Move!! Move!!! Out the way."

"Move y'all!!" Aria said.

I saw Tommy running towards us.

I got to him. "What happened?!" I looked around and people were just recording. "Someone call 911! Call 911!! Stay with me Jabez please!!"

"I didn't see who shot him."

He looked so hurt. He teared up and I wiped his face. Aria started applying pressure to the wound.

I heard the sirens. "Jabez stay with me please." I said.

The paramedics came and grabbed him. I got in the truck with them. Aria went with Tommy.

We got to the hospital and they rushed him back. I followed him.

"I'm sorry but you will have to wait." One of the doctors said.

"But I-"

"I'm sorry. We will come out shortly. We will have a nurse direct you to the waiting room."

Tommy and Aria arrived and waited with me.

"How don't you know who shot him TOMMY?!" Aria screamed.

"I saw people gather around but I didn't know it was Jabez. Jabez doesn't have problems with anyone!" Tommy yelled.

"Whatever. You heard gunshots and didn't do shit." Aria said.

"I didn't know it was him. I was worried about you! Plus he didn't come to school today. Why was he even here?"

Aria looked at me and looked down. "Maybe he wanted to get his work."

I looked down. This is my fault. I should've never went to school. Or never told him to get me.

I saw Don and Andre come in. They went to me and asked how I was doing.

Everyone started to asking Tommy. I felt so bad for him because he really didn't know. I looked at the blood on my hands and started tearing up again.

I saw Cecilia (Jabez's mom) come in with Hannah (Jabez's sister) and Rocky.

I saw that they were all crying. "What happened Asia." Cecilia asked.

"I-"

She hugged me.

"I just saw him on the ground. I'm not sure who did it." I said.

"Is he okay? Is he stable?!" Hannah asked.

"I'm not sure." I said.

"Well what do you know?!" She said storming out.

"Hannah...Wait!" Cecilia said.

I sat back down. Rocky sat by me. "I'm sorry about Hannah. She's just worried. Jabez is her favorite sibling."

"It's okay." I said. " I haven't seen her in a long time."

"Yeah, that's right you haven't." Rocky said.

I looked down not knowing what else to say.  

"Hey let's go wash your hands off." Rocky said.

"Okay. Yeah you're right." I went to the sink and washed my hands.

Rocky smiled at me. "Everything's going to be okay."

"I hope so." I said walking back to the room.

I saw a doctor talking to Jabez's mom.  The doctor was basically saying Jabez was in surgery. They said things weren't looking to good.

I broke down and cried. Thinking about how this easily could've of been prevented.
