"Isaiah? Quit playing with me." I said.
Jabez looked at Aria. "I don't think she would joke about that."
"Wait your serious?" I asked making Aria nod.
"Why?" Jabez said.
I looked at Jabez and he was turning red. "After all he did to us? He's able to be out?" Jabez frowned.
"Right like it hasn't even been that long. What a year and a half maybe?"
"Diamond said he's gonna be out on parole next month." Aria said.
Jabez shook his head and went to his room. I followed him. He got a box from under the bed and opened it. He pulled out a blunt and lit it.
"Where'd you get that from?" I asked.
"Saving it for when I needed it. It calms me." He said.
"I wish I could hit that." I said.
Jabez chuckled.
Aria came in the room. She took Jabez's blunt and hit it. "Hey" Jabez said. Aria rolled her eyes. "Anyways that's why I didn't go to school."
"That's understandable." I said.
Jabez nodded. "But I don't wanna waste my gas on you again."
"Okay dad!" Aria said walking away.
Jabez rolled his eyes. "You know I'm not scared..I'm just...I don't know."
"I get it...you experienced something very traumatic."
"I almost died. It left me hopeless. They told I could've been paralyzed Asia. Now he can be free?"
"I know..the shit he did scarred me for life."
