Chapter4
Death
Lema opened her eyes even though she knew what she would see: none, no sight of light. She could see nothing but darkness. She coughed as the water in her mouth came out. Thick green grass protected her back from those sharp rocks on the ground. She was wet. She does not know what to do or what to think. She was confused on what would she do after what she have done last night. A deep sigh came out from her.
"So, what now?" she asked herself. She was in near of death last night, but that was all she could do to escape.

The sound grew louder. The door was opened. Lema’s leg was in her window. She was planning to jump; for her to jump? That's crazy. She sees nothing, and death was waiting for her outside. Crazy, yes, she's crazy on getting her freedom.
"Lema! What are you doing?!Oh my God!"
Lema heard heavy footsteps coming near her. It's Cristian.
"Stop this. You're insane!" He said.
Lema turned her face to the unknown. She wanted it so bad that she would risk her own life just to have that freedom she crave for so long.
"Light" she whispered. "Freedom." she added.
Only few centimetres, Cristian could grab her hand, he could snatch the dream she always wanted to have. Inches.....millimeters. Christian’s hand was moving nearer to Lema's hand, nearer, moving slowly, just a little more.
And, she did it.
She jumped...
Escaped from what she thought endless darkness but what if that darkness is nothing the darkness waiting for her? Things and places were not familiar, from the danger waiting for her in the woods and people she was no safe.
Lema lied in confusion, still thinking what to do or what to think. She wanted to do something with her life. Now that she has her freedom with her she could do anything, but she didn’t know where or how to start.
“But what can I do in a forest?” She thought.
Wait till her death come to her?
“No, I won’t wait for my death.”
Darkness surrounds her, eyes open or eyes closed. Wind hummed a lullaby while Lema closed her eyes. The leaves of the trees swayed with the wind, agreed and sang a song; a song as sweet as a cake, a song with a gentle voice that could grab you out of the reality.
She missed this kind of song.
Lema joined in the sweet and gentle party. A blind bird that hummed sweeter than the sweetest song, falling asleep beside of a full of brown and old leaves swimming in a mirror-like river; grass being her head protection as she imagined that the reason why she could only saw black was that the light was closed. Resting was all what she could do now, the only thing that she can do.
***
Cold breeze crept slowly from Lema's legs, to her hands up to her cheeks. Lema groaned silently. Soft pillows protect her head and so with her whole body, no more leaves floating and lullaby playing, Lema heard nothing except for the sad aura rounding her. Cold breeze told her so. Lema slowly sat. She slides her hands slowly in the bed, and then she felt she touched a hard, wooden thing: cabinet. Moving further, she touches a hot surface.
"Lamp shade?" she whispered.
"So you're awake."
Lema was shocked. Lema's eyes tried to search for the man who have just talk even though she knew it won't work.
"I' m here." he said in silent tone more on a whisper.
"Wh-who are you?"
"WHO, ARE YOU?" the man asked back with a heavy accent.
Lema felt tension formed around them. Lema's heart was beating faster than ever, beating faster than when she was exited or surprised. Anger circled Lema's feeling; she was having butterflies. More like dragons. The man sat besides her having those readable feelings: dark and angry.
"I' m going to repeat again. Who, are you?" He said with a more serious voice. His whisper found its way onto Lema's veins reaching her heart.
She's scared, afraid...
