Desiree Sanders
"...I don't understand you Nadine! I do every single thing that a man is supposed to do, I provide, I protect, I try my best to keep you happy and you turn around and do something like this to me?!"
"How are you trying to make me happy? You're never around Kendrick."
"Because I'm too busy working so that you ass wouldn't have to! I was giving you the chance to chase your dreams! Kept your hands and feet pampered, clothes on your back and I didn't ask for a thing in return but for you to be loyal..."
"I'm sorry but being a husband is so much more than writing me a cheque every other week. It's so much more than Sunday breakfast at Kerri's every other month. You don't even attempt to satisfy my other needs."
"Nadine, I got two kids... I didn't expect you to act like one. If you had an issue, you could've spoken to me. I know you don't expect me to just read minds here."
"Well, read my body language then nigga! When you came home for months upon months, I looked for affection, but as usual you were too tired."
"BECAUSE I'M THE ONLY ONE WORKING!" my father yelled, "or so I thought until my son here explained everything to me about your secret little life."
"Okay Kendrick, woohoo. You caught me. Like I said before, none of this would've happened if you would've been present."
"You're so ridiculous..."
"ME?! Kendrick... I was living like I was single."
"And I was working like a single father. What you tryna say?" he sucked his teeth and I heard a loud thud; I'm guessing he punched the wall again. "when were you going to tell me, you were sick?"
"To be honest, I didn't even feel like I needed to... it's not like you even remember what it looks like down there, anymore."
"You ready?" My brother opened up my door and looked at me, I was seated on the edge of my bed wearing a mid-thigh stripped dress, my hair in a little side part ponytail and some sandals on my feet. "Alright, let's go."
"I... don't think I'm feeling ready to go to school yet."
"If you think I'm about to let you stay here in the middle of this mess, you're trippin. So it's either you go to school or to Bingo with grandma."
"Gio... after everything that went down with both me and you, last night. I'm going to be the trending topic of Georgian." I pouted, folding my arms across my chest. "Plus, I'm not feeling well..."
"Do you want to go to the hospital?" he asked and I shook my head. "Then you're okay enough to go to school."
"I'm not." I whined. "I can't deal with those people today."
"Desiree." His nose flared and I watched him clench his jaws. "I'm tired of the whining and complaining. Iight? You're going to have to learn how to stop running from every and anything that happens. Life is not always sunshine and rainbows, it gets hard and it get hurtful. As much as I want to fight every battle for you... I can't. You're going to have to be a big girl and fight them head on." he looked away from me for a second, his eyes were pretty puffy and he wasn't as dressed up as usual. "I'll be in the car." He said, before shutting the door.
Damn... I have never seen him shut me down like that.
I sighed, then stood from where I sat. I grabbed my book bag along with my phone that I had yet to turn on since everything had happened. I realized that it was best for me to just take a break from it in general.
