Sighing I stared at the ceiling while sitting on the sofa. All I could think about was how I had kissed Lexi in the store cupboard at work. Ty was in the shower and Loz was out with Ricky getting his dog ready to come to our flat for the week while they go away. I was alone with my thoughts and I was wishing that someone would come and distract me from them. My resolve was crumbling and most of me was struggling to remember why I thought it was a good idea to avoid Lexi. I had managed to stay away for the rest of the day today but every moment of the rest of my shift was haunted about what could have happened if the emergency bell hadn’t gone off. The image of Lexi coming towards me in the store cupboard ran in front of me for the hundredth time, I sighed again and thought about kissing her, letting my imagination run wild. I slipped my hand lower and slipped into my trousers. Biting my lip I imagined her kissing my neck, how she had when we slept together.
Suddenly a loud bang startled me and I pulled my hand from where it had been straying and opened my eyes. I looked round to see Loz barging through the front door, Ricky and little Bea in tow.
“Hey Jenn give us a hand.” Loz called as she juggled a dog bed, canned dog food and what looked like half a teddy and a bone. I couldn’t help but laugh a little at her as she attempted her balancing act further into the room. I stood and helped by taking some of the cans of food out her hands and placing them onto the counter top of the kitchen, before running over to Ricky and little Bea to say hello to the little Yorkshire Terrier. She was a tiny little fluffy dog which did not suit Ricky in the slightest considering he was huge, muscled police officer. Even so he completely doted on the little thing, she always had the best food, toys and he even shouted at people for messing up her perfectly trimmed fur. It was a source of amusement for most people who met him until they heard the story behind why he had such a little ‘girly dog’. Little Bea, or Beatrice as she was named by Ricky’s mother, her original owner. Ricky had brought her for his Mother for her birthday as some company and she loved the little thing, unfortunately about two years ago Ricky’s mother had a stroke and passed away, so Ricky took her on as his own unable to part with the little dog.
“Hello there my little darling! Aww who is a cutie?!” I cooed to the little dog kneeling down to stoke her, she wagged her tail and jumped up at me licking my hands.
“I know I am! I am just so totally gorgeous.” Ricky laughed above me. He bent down and unclipped Bea’s lead, “Are you sure you are happy looking after her? I just hate leaving her at kennels.”
I stood and watched him stroke Bea’s head with a smile on my face. I thought it was cute how such a big guy had so much affection for the tiniest of dogs. Ricky was a big softie at heart but if I didn’t know him I would be terrified to meet him down a dark ally. “It’s fine honestly I love dogs. My mum had three when I was a kid! I miss walking them, it’ll be great to have something fluffy to snuggle up with on the sofa.”
Ricky stood and Bea ran off to explore her new home for the next ten days. “Thanks you guys are life savers.” He grinned and looked over my shoulder as a girlish shriek came from Ty’s room.
“Fuck.” Ty strode out with Bea trotting behind him. “She scared the shit out of me man! Came and licked my feet? What the hell!” He stood in jeans and bare feet his wet hair dripping slightly. I tried to hold in a laugh but failed. It appeared the others had the same problem.
“Oh Ty mate. Man up.” Ricky laughed. “Alright Loz, Babe you better get your suitcases. If we want to get to the hotel before midnight we should leave now.”
“I thought your flight wasn’t until tomorrow?” I asked while hitting the switch for the kettle.
Loz replied while walking towards her room, “Yeah but it’s at half five in the morning so we are staying in a B and B next to the airport considering it’s a long ass drive.”
