Chapter Fifteen

"God it seems like it's been ages since I've last been here," I breathed out. Familiar book shelves lined the left wall, piled high with work and folders. A black fluffy rug sat in the middle of the room under the black and white desk and I'm where I first sat on for the interview. White blinds were still lifted up revealing the centre of California and tall buildings. A modern fireplace sat on the right wall with a sofa perched in front of it still giving me thoughts and the need to snuggle up under a blanket in front of it.

"That's cause it has been, come," Luke ordered making my heels clank against the laminate in his office. I moved to sit in the familiar chair watching as Luke sat behind his desk "sorry I had to do this. I've just been bomb boarded with loads of work and have to do them as soon as possible,"

"It's fine Luke. It's your job," I smiled playing with the edge of my dress.

"Please Nicky, if anyone comes in it's Mr Hemmings. Don't embarrass me," he said strictly making me nod and look around at all the photographs that have been recently added. My hands pushed me of the chair forcing me to stand up. I headed over to the little soda in front of the fire grabbing a blanket that was hanging over the side of it before perching myself on the sofa pillow.

The thin, furry blanket covered my body as I threw it over me, feeling the fur on my exposed legs from my dress. I watched as Luke stood up and walked over to the fireplace turning it on, lighting up the room with orange, red and yellow hues.

"Thank you," I muttered feeling cold slightly as the weather outside drastically changed to rain.

"No problem darling," he replied before sitting back at his desk opening folders and grabbing pens and filling forms out.

"Excuse me Mr Hemmings, can you quickly sign this while you are here," a girl said opening the door, gripping a folder close to her chest as she was signalled into the room.

A soft patter was heard as she placed the folded down swiftly followed by a swoosh as he opened the paper folder. A quick scribble was heard before the swoosh sounded again letting me know he has signed the paper an handed it back to her. Her heels sounded against the floor as she walked back towards the door her blonde hair swaying behind her back. Her blue eyes momentarily locked with mine before swiftly looking away and hurrying closer to the door, taking one swift look at me before heading out closing the door harshly behind her.

"Sorry about her. That's my exes sister," Luke told me seeing me stare at where her body last was making me face him.

"Why does she work here?" I asked him moving the blanket so it's around my shoulders as I stood up, it dragging against the laminate behind me.

"I can't fire her Nicky, that contact bounds her to Hemmings companies for as long as they are a thing. A stupid deal I made with Arzaylea." He spat out.

"That's why you never read what you signed," I whispered moving closer to him. I moved behind his desk right next to him briefly looking at all the files gently pushing them to create a gap. I turned around before jumping and sitting on his desk in the little gap I made watching as his fave turned to concentration mode quickly signing sheets and placing them in a new pile.

"You're putting me off darling," he muttered, his stare never leaving the pieces of paper as he read then signed on the dotted line.

"I'm not doing anything," I laughed

"Your sitting there all cute and wrapped up," he shrugged quickly looking up at me before the papers again.

"I always look like this," I joked pushing myself of his desk gasping when his hands gripped me pulling me on to his lap. He went straight back to signing papers leaving me on his lap. I turned sideways so my legs swung over the arm of the desk chair leaning into him smiling as he wrapped his arms around my body tighter holding me there.

"Hey Nicky," he called out making me look up at him through my eyelashes holding the blanket over my mouth.

"Yeah Luke?"

"You know how I don't do the whole love thing?" He asked pushing slightly away from his desk and fully giving me his attention.

"Sadly yes," I said a frown falling on to my face as I remembered. Nothing can ever happen. I pushed myself off his body gasping as his arms got a lot tighter not letting me leave.

"No wait don't move. This is hard for me," he whispered turning me around so I was now straddling him, our faces close together. "I thought after Arz I would never love again," he started "but then I met you. I didn't think it was love to begin with but the last months I've been with you, it's grown into love. She ruined me and I forgot what love was until a little birdie told me what love meant."

"Love is looking at someone and only focusing on them, no one else matters. Love is like looking through a camera and it focusing on one person and one person only, everything else goes blurry. Love is where nothing else matters to you except your partners happiness and feeling the need to make them happy 24/7. That's what love is Luke and if that happens when you see someone, then hate to say it but you're in love."

"As soon as you said that I knew I had fallen for you. I wanted you for more then a fuck, I wanted you to be mine. But I didn't know if you wanted me back and well when you kissed Ethan,"

"He kissed me,"

"Well Nicky What I'm trying to say is I love you,"

A gasp left my rosy lips as I heard them words leave his mouth, the words I never thought I would here from him. I launched forwards my lips touching his as my hands gripped his head holding him in place.

"I love you to,"
