This was not Jamila's first rodeo, she knew how to get back in and she felt as though she still had a chance thanks to the boys. Her first step was to ask her mom to get her private sessions like the boys had, Claire couldn't afford it and Jamila had always had regular classes for her friend's sake but it didn't matter now that they weren't friends anymore.
Of course Jamila had to wonder why they weren't friends anymore. Before she left, Claire was the clingy one. After she left Claire changed. She never called, never texted back and now...she didn't even look at Jamila when she was standing right in front of her.
And then she saw it...how people followed Claire as she walked past, the whispers, the treatment. It used to be hers. And so she knew how to get her friend back...or her attention.
The fact that only she and the boys could afford those classes would automatically make her Claire irritable. And remind everyone why she was who she was. It was vain. But she was dealing with Claire. It was so easy, it didn't feel fair.
Her next step was to have an exclusive trip that had just enough people to spread the word so Claire could start feeling left out. She knew Claire well enough to know that she would start sucking up to her the moment she realized that Jamila could keep certain doors open for her and she simply had to remind her just how many door Jamila could keep open.
She was busy plotting all this as she made her way to class with Malkia next to her. Malkia was like the money in her account, she was heavensent and exactly what Jamila needed. Another tool to make Claire jealous. To make Claire want her again.
The entire lunch crew was together but Malkia had ended up in the back with her. Her friend Tom was behind them and the boys walked ahead.
According to Jamila's plan, Malkia was the third step, she had something that Claire would never have - a seat at the F4 table. She had Ryuu's attention.
"So you're new?" Jamila asked, she was trying to be sweet - she always thought of herself as a sweet girl when she wasn't forced to plot against you at least.
"Yes, started last week."
"Ah, I wasn't even thinking about school last week - can you imagine!" she laughed.
"Are you and Luke close?" Malkia found herself asking, this was another thoughtless action.
"I'm close to all of them, we grew up together - it was so hard for me because I was the only girl around.""Oh,"
"But Luke was always there, moving at my speed and as adverse of scary things as I was so I guess I am closest to him."
"Oh, I had the impressions that you two might be dating - Jay and Simba said something of the sort." Thoughtless, thoughtless.
Jamila turned to observe her face before she spoke, it was quite obvious to her just what Malkia wanted to know and she wasn't trying to be sly or anything it's just that Luke had always been hers in her head and she never wanted that to change. She laughed then said "We might as well be married really."
