It took at least 15 minutes to reach his house. When we entered, I was amazed at how beautiful his house was. Every wall had a different colour of paint. The decor was magnificent and properly set. There was even a crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
Now this was a house!
"Mom, Dad! I'm home! And I brought a friend!" he said the last part while looking at me.
Two people came in and pulled Jake into a big hug. I was guessing that they were his parents. For some reason, I felt jealous.
Why?
It was probably nothing.
"Mom, Dad!" he pulled away and gestured towards me. "This is Carrie! We're working on an assignment together!"
"That's great! Take her to your room and get started!" said his mom. She seemed really nice. "Make yourself at home dear!"
"Thank you!" I said.
I was really happy. It almost felt like this was my family.
Almost.

"Well, this is it!"
Dylan had brought me up to his room so we could have peace and quiet. His room had colorfully painted walls, a wooden floor, a desk, a bedside dresser with a lamp, and a double bed with plain white bedsheets. His room was pretty neat even though we were talking about a guy's room.
"This room is amazing! And pretty neat! I'm impressed!" I said in an excited voice.
"Probably not as good as yours!" he said smirking.
"Oh please! Have you seen my room?" I asked.
"I would love to see it though!" he said.
This made me blush. He came closer until he was only a few inches away. He leaned his head towards me and said,
"What do you say?" he asked grinning.
I blushed harder. When he saw me, he burst into laughter.
"Boy, you blush easily!" he said while laughing.
"Do not!"
"Tell yourself whatever you want!" he said winking at me.
"Let's just start!" I said angrily.

We spent the next two hours talking and laughing more than doing our work. I told him about my life, almost bursting into tears talking about my mother. He decided not to push the subject harder. He told me some stuff about himself. I especially laughed when he told me his nickname when he was little. His parents called him Jay Jay! It was hilarious. As soon as he told me, I burst into laughter. I seriously thought I saw him blushing.
"Yeah, yeah! I know!" said Jake. "But I'm a man now, so my parents got rid of that nickname."
"I'll still call you that!" I said
"Don't. You. Dare!" he threatened.
"Make. Me!" I rebutted.
"Why you..."
He got up and chased me too the bed. He started tickling me so much I couldn't help but laugh.
"Ok! Time out!" I said.
Just as he looked away, I smacked him with a pillow. Not long after, we started a pillow fight. It was so much fun. This was the most fun I've had in years.
*****
After a few more hours of fun and work, but mostly fun, Jake dropped me off.
"Thanks for coming over. I had a lot of fun." said Jake.
"No problem. I enjoyed a lot." I said with a smile.
"See you tomorrow?" he asked.
"You bet!"
He laughed and waved at me before heading to his car. He looked at me and winked before getting into the car and driving off.
I started blushing again, thankful that he wasn't here to see it. I opened the door and went inside my house, with a huge smile on my face.
