Jake's POV

I woke up to sounds coming from the kitchen. Who was up? I got out of bed and went to the door when I realized something. I was in Carrie's house. She didn't want to be alone last night so I agreed to stay over. I still wondered, who's room is this? It obviously wasn't her parents' room because it was decorated so that it would look like a teenager lived here. It probably didn't matter. I went out the door and headed to the kitchen. There she was. She was making breakfast. She had told me that her mom had cancer when she was only 12. She learned to cook and clean all by herself at such a young age. I felt sorry for her.

"Morning!" I said.

She turned around. I saw her bright smile that lit up her face and made her look so beautiful.

"Hey! Sleep well?" asked Carrie.

"Yeah! Sort of! I almost forgot that I wasn't in my own house." I said.

She laughed and said,

"Aw! Don't you have great memory?"

She put down everything she was doing and came towards me.

"Well, don't you have something to tell me?" she asked.

"How'd you know I was gonna tell you something?" I asked

"I can tell from the look on your face!" she said laughing.

"Ha-ha! Very funny!" I said with my arms crossed.

"Just tell me!" she said impatiently.

I figured I better tell her or she might explode.

"You know how you told me to stay over last night? I kinda forgot to tell my parents where I was!"

"What?" she screamed which startled me.

"Why didn't you tell them? You are so in trouble! And it'll all be my fault and-"

"Whoa, whoa! Slow down. Ok, it's not your fault! It's mine!" I said reassuringly.

I got her worried for nothing! Man, I'm an idiot.

"I'm still sorry." she said timidly.

"Don't be." I said.

I pulled her into my arms and buried my head in her hair. Her brown hair smelt like strawberries. It felt like the whole world had stopped and it was just me and her together. This was the best feeling in the world.

Carrie's POV

After our long embrace, we pulled away from each and had some breakfast. He said I'm great at cooking and that I should make food for him often. I got flustered at the thought. He noticed and started to laugh. He had to leave and I really didn't want him to, but his parents were worried and I couldn't keep him away from them. That would just be selfish. When he left, I quickly took a shower and changed. I thought I'd go out for a breather, so I went for a walk in the park.

The wind was blowing in my face. It felt refreshing. All my worries melted away. Until I bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry!" I said without looking at who it was.

"How many times are you gonna bump into me?" he said.

I looked up. The person I bumped into was Jake! Again!

"Wait, what are you doing here?" I asked him

"Nothing, just here for a wallk!" he answered. "You?"

"Same!"

"Cool! Let's walk together!" he said.

"Sure!"

We walked together side by side. We kept talking and laughing. He told me his parents were OK with him staying over after what had happened. While we were walking, he suddenly laced his fingers through mine. I was surprised at what he just did but I didn't complain. He didn't say anything and I was OK with that. I was really happy. We kept on walking, hand in hand, enjoying our time together!
