Today was going to be a special day! BECAUSE IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Today, on 15th June, I will finally turn 17 years old! Problem was I didn't have much friends to celebrate with. The rest of my years, I didn't celebrate at all. But this time was going to be different, because Chloe said there was going to be a surprise! Man, I seriously want to know what she is talking about! Since it was the middle of summer vacations, school was closed. So I didn't get to see anyone much. I'm seriously wondering what to do. I got a call from my mom wishing me happy birthday and telling me to come to the hospital ASAP. I rushed there, wondering why she was calling me there. When I got to her room, she was sitting up straight, with hair tied into a ponytail.
"Hey, baby! Happy birthday!" she said in a soothing voice.
"Thanks mom!" I replied.
"I have something to give you!" she said.
She rummaged for something under her pillow. She brought a a little white box with a small ribbon on top. She opened the lid, and inside was golden locket. It was in the shape of a circle and was simple and plain but very beautiful. I loved it.
"Wow, this is amazing!" I exclaimed.
"I told one of the nurses to get it for me. I knew you'd like it!" she said.
"Like it? I love it!" I said.
I opened it. Inside was a picture of me, my mom and my dad. This was the best present ever!
"This is beautiful! Thank you so much! I love you!" I said and then I gave her a big hug.
"No problem, sweetheart." she said.
I spent the rest of my time with her. We laughed and had some lunch. I had to leave though. I thanked her one last time before leaving.

As I reached home, I got a text.
Hey, care bear! Come over to my house! I have a surprise waiting for you! - C
A surprise? I wondered what she was talking about? I got another text.
Also wear something fancy! - C
What is going on? I followed her instructions and changed into a flowery pink dress and pink heels. I left my hair open. I found the locket sitting on my make up table and I put it on. It looked so pretty.
I was about to head out when the door bell rang. I opened the door and saw Jake standing there all dressed up.
"Hey, don't you look amazing?" he said.
I blushed at this comment and hid my face under my hair so he wouldn't see me.
"Why are you here?" I asked timidly.
"To take you to Chloe's! Didn't she tell you that I'm your escourt?" he asked.
"Not really!" I said blushing a little.
"Well, now you know, so come on!" he said grabbing my hand and leading me to the car.
We drove in silence for a while. I asked him what was going on but all he said was he was sworn to secrecy. I pouted and crossed my arms but he still didn't tell me anything, so I waited.

When we got out of the car, he tied a blindfold to my eyes.
"W-what are you d-doing?" I asked stammering a little.
"Trust me! I know what I'm doing!" he replied.
He swept me up into his arms and carried me to who knows where. After a while, he stopped and put me down. Then he undid my blinfold and told me to open my eyes. I did and when I saw what was infront of me, I almost burst into tears.
"SURPRISE!!!" screamed everyone.
There were random people, most of which I didn't know. Everyone was gathered around the banner that said "Happy Birthday!". They were throwing me a surprise party. So sweet! Chloe came towards me and gave me a big hug.
"Happy Birthday, care bear!" she said.
That was her nickname for me. She gave it to me when were were 6. I can't believe she still uses it.
"I can't believe you did this! This is amazing!" I said excitedly
"Come on! Let's have some fun!" she said and pulled me into the crowd.

The party was amazing. We talked, I cut a cake, we danced and played games and I even opened some presents. I got so tired that I fell asleep there and then. The last thing I remember was being carried to my bed and being tucked in. I heard someone say,
"Goodnight!"
before I fell asleep completely.

The next day when I woke up, I was still wearing last nights clothes. I looked at my bedside dresser. On top of it a page. I read what it said, and when I did, I started crying. It was so sweet. It was a poem written about me. I checked the name. I couldn't believe who it was written by.Then again, only one person knew all the things about me that were written in the poem. Only one person, who cared deeply about me. I smiled and clutched it to my chest.
"Thank you, Jake!"
