Chapter 19

A year later:

Our senior year was over. Our graduation ceremony was coming. I asked Jake if he was going to college after this. He said no! For some reason, I got so excited, I started dancing! In front of him! Gosh, how embarassing! Anyway, Jake and I spent the whole day together. I was really sad when it was nightime and he had to go. I wanted him to stay, but I knew he couldn't. So I waved him goodnight instead.

It was graduation day. We were handed our diplomas and told to say a few words. When it was my turn, I almost tripped because of my stupid gown. 

"Carrie, please say a few words!"

"Um well, hi everyone!" I said while looking at everyone.

"It's a great honour to be graduating and I'm glad that I am! I mean, like if my friends are graduating. that's awesome since otherwise without them, I wouldn't be the person I am now!" I said, my voice cracking at the last part.

"Without my friends, I would be a nobody. A coward, who could only hide in the shadows of others!" I said letting tears slip out. "No one would ever notice me, or talk to me! Even if they tried, I'd just run away!"

"There was only one person who changed me! That person is the onewho became my friend, who cared about me. Who stuck by my side when there was no one else!" I cried,

"That person was none other than Jake Walker!" I said pointing at him. Everyone everted there gaze to him. He smiled at me and I smiled back, saying the rest of the words while looking at him.

"Thank you so much for helping me gain courage! You are a great friend! And I'm really lucky that someone like me could become your girlfriend!" I said happily.

I saw him blush and I smiled.

"Thank you so much!" I said and went off the stage.

Chloe came up to me and hugged me. She told me my speech was awesome. I got many other congratulations from people. Then he came. The person I am in love with.

"Hey!" I said inching closer to him.

"Nice speech!" he said putting his hands in my waist.

I laughed and I buried my head in his chest.

When I pulled away, I smiled and he did the same.

"I can't believe we just graduated!" he said.

"I know! It feels like I'm dreaming!" 

"Well, I didn't know you said such wonderful things in your dreams!" he said.

"Neither did I!" I said.

We finally graduated. High school was officially over. What will happen to us next?
