I was walking around in the halls going to Literature class, when someone put a hand on my shoulder. I turned around to look at who it was. It was a boy. He looked at least 18, maybe a senior. He had jet black hair and hazelnut eyes, just like Jake. He also had a mischevious grin on his face. I felt like kicking him hard, though I don't know why?
"Are you Carrie Andrews?" he asked me.
"Yes! Who are you and what do you want?" I asked him rudely
"So you're the girl my brother keeps talking about!" he said with crossed arms.
"Brother?" I asked.
"I'm surprised you haven't noticed! I'm Jake's older brother, Harry!" he said extending his hand as if he wanted me to shake it.
I didn't want to shake it, but I did want to break it.
"I'm charmed!" I said in a mocking tone.
"Well, you don't seem that happy to meet me!" he said.
"Very true, so could you please leave? I have to go to class!" I said.
"Fine! I'll see you later." he said
He waved and headed off in the opposite direction.
"Uh, he disgusts me!"
*****
After Literature class was over, Jake came up to me. He look concerned. He must've noticed my mood.
"Look, I know what you're thinking and no, I'm not worried about anything. I'm just disgusted!" I said.
"And why is that?" he asked.
"Cause I met your brother! And I know I'm being rude, but tell him to get lost and stay away from me!" I screamed.
"You met that jerk! I can see why you're mad!" he whispered.
"Well, yeah! Your brother really is strange." I said.
"Don't worry. If he comes near you, I'll punch the lights out of him!" he said.
"Why don't you like your brother? I know he's a jerk but still, I wanna know!" I said.
"Fine! I guess you deserve to know!" he said.
I was anxious. I wanted to know why Jake and Harry were complete opposites.
"Ever since we were young, he was always jealous of me just cause I was smart and talented. He always tried to turn my parents against me. One time, he almost did but my parents overheard his plan and they, well-"
"What? They kicked him out of the house?" I said joking.
"Yes!" he said.
"What? Are you serious?" I screamed.
"Very! But he lives with his stupid girlfriend now and her parents pay for his studies here!" he said.
"Wow! He is so obnoxious!" I said.
"Anyway, should we go? I thought we could go to my house for our assignement!" he proposed.
"Don't we always?" I said.
"Fine, then let's go to your house!" he said.
"Uh, s-sure! Th-that'd be s-swell!" I stammered.
"Cool!" he said while grabbing my hand. "Come on!" and he leaded me to his car.
*****
There he was in the parking lot. Near Jake's car. I almost threw up just looking at his face.
"Hey, lovely girl!" he said.
Jake clenched his jaw and tightned his fists, getting ready to knock him out.
"What are you even doing here? Get lost, you jerk!" I screamed.
"Whoa! Aren't you feisty?" he said throwing his hands up in defeat.
"GO AWAY!" Jake screamed so loud that it startled me.
"Fine, little bro! Guess you're too weak to fight me so you just wanna run away!" he said in a mocking tone.
That was it. He crossed the line. I went in and smacked him in the nose. Then again, and again, until he fell down. I was about to kick him but Jake put his arms around me to hold me back. I saw that his nose was bleeding terribly but I didn't care. He deserved it. Let's see who'll pay for his nose to be fixed. He ran away. Jake let go and he turned me to face him. I thought he'd be angry but he looked grateful.
"Why'd you do that?" he said in a gentle voice pushing a stray strand of hair away from my face.
"He was insulting you! I couldn't just let him treat you like you're a doormat!" I said.
"Thanks for that! Your knuckles are all bloody though!" he said while rasing my hands so that I could see that they were covered in blood.
"Come on! Go wash them! I'll wait for you!" he said.
He let go and we went inside.
*****
I went into the girl's bathroom and washed the blood off my knuckles. While I did, I thought about what I had done. Had he really deserved it? But I didn't care. He hurt Jake and I couldn't just let him get away with it! After I was done, I went outside and saw Jake standing against the wall waiting for me. He looked so handsome. He always seems that way to me though.
He looked at me and smiled. I smiled back.
"Hey, beautiful!" he said.
He grabbed my hand and brought it to his face. He planted a slight kiss on them that made me turn as red as a tomato. Or at least I thought that's what I looked like.
"Let's go!" he said.
He still held my hand and we walked to his car. I am so thankful to be friends with someone like him!
