Sans x Reader - A Nightmare?

Long. You have been warned.

You dodged another hit from the lonely goat prince. He needed to be saved, but how? You saw the act button turn into 'save' and you saw an option to save one of your best friends. You quickly selected Undyne, and began saving.

"Well, some humans are ok, I guess!"

"No! That's not true! My friends like me! And I like you too!"

"NO! WAIT!! YOU'RE MY FRIEND! I COULD NEVER CAPTURE YOU!"

"You're fate is up to you now!"

"You are our future!"

Almost everyone was saved before you could save Asriel. But, you still had one more person to save. And it was the one you cared the most for.

Sans.

You called into the darkness, "Sans!"

There you were, against your best friend. You had wanted to save him from the beginning, but didn't know how. Now, you had a few ideas. But then, Sans began talking.

"Why even try to save me? I'm not worth anything. No one is. It all resets in the end, so why bother trying to save anyone?" His tone was so vacant... so broken...

Everyone had acted like they did before you befriended them. Sans had been your friend since the beginning, so this was new for you. You then realised something that could help you.

"Sans, I have to save everyone... it's the right thing to do... You told me to do what my heart felt was right, and this is it!" You called, but a blaster shot at you, making you jump to dodge it.

"Just give up... I did... You'll never save everyone..."

You felt your soul crack, and jolted in pain.

"I will save everyone! I promise you, and you know how much I hate making them! The same as you do!" You tried, but bones were shot at you. You could see blue tears falling from Sans' skull onto his jacket, even through the pixels covering his face.

"JUST SHUT UP AND STOP TRYING TO SAVE ME!!"

You were hit by many blasters and bones. You were trying to save Sans, but one missed step, and you were hit. You had just been killed by your best friend.

Your soul was about to give up, but it barely had energy to refuse, and you were thrown back into Sans' lost soul void battle. You looked at the one you love so much, realising what you had to do.

Quickly, you bolted towards him, wrapping your arms around him. He stiffened, before you felt him hug you back. You began crying softly, not wanting to let go of the hug.

"It's okay, kid... I'm here... Go get us all free... I'm rootin' for ya..." Sans whispered, but you only held him tighter.

"No! I'm not letting you go again! This time I'm staying with you!"

"Listen, Asriel needs to be saved too... I'll be here, ok?"

"....... Alright..." You let go, slowly, but surely.

The world faded, but before it did, you saw Sans wink at you. You felt your soul flare with DETERMINATION. You would get all monsters free, no matter what.

*Timeskip*

You did it...

You were on the surface, holding Sans' hand. You had just freed monster kind from the prison. You shuddered, feeling cold suddenly, and two buttons appeared in front of you.

You were confused. Your soul was flaring with contentment; why would it give you an obvious choice? You hit continue, but the button broke, and forcefully, your hand had touched RESET.

You opened your eyes, vision blurry. It focused on gold flowers. You were scared. Your body moved on its own. You knew what this was going to be, so you didn't bother fighting anymore.

It was worthless.

You had to watch the force control you to kill everyone. You didn't waste your energy. You didn't speak, you didn't protest, you just stared at the ground. The black abyss surrounding you had suited your mood. Sadness for having to do this.

But then, the demon spoke.

"Aw, what's the matter? Unable to watch your LOVE INTEREST get sliced~?"

At those words, your head shot up, seeing you had already made it to the judgement hall. You then struggled, trying to prevent a complete genocide.

"You now fight to stop me? When I'm almost finished?"

"Let me take control! I... I'll do it... I'll kill him!" You called, bluffing but hoping the demon bought it.

Luckily, they did. They let you control, and Sans had just spared you. You knew he would've killed you, but you selected fight, seeing yourself now as an option.

You did, and turned the knife towards yourself. You did a quick stab, and the last thing you saw was Sans' shocked look.

You shot your eyes open, yelping. You were disoriented. You blinked quite a bit, your vision clearing. Starlight shone through the window, and an arm wrapped around your waist. A bony arm.

"Sweetheart, it's alright... I'm here... You didn't hurt anyone... you're okay..." You heard the familiar voice.

"Sans...?" You uttered, rolling over.

"The one and only, (Y/n)... you're okay... everyone's okay..."

Your throat burned, but you began crying. You knew the nightmare had been happening all the time now, out of fear that the demon would take control and make you reset.

Sans knew you had the nightmares, so he had helped you through it. He knew what it was like, so he knew he could help.

"Hey... You know I forgive you for that run... You didn't mean it... Your with me and the others on the surface, remember?" Sans whispered, rubbing your back in comfort.

You whimpered, and nodded, still crying. Sans kept muttering the same thing over and over, hoping you'll respond.

"I love you..."

Finally, when you had calmed down, you managed to respond with, "I love you too..."

Sans let out a sound of excitement, and you giggled slightly. You curled up in his hold, trying to forget about the worries that plagued your mind.

"It's all okay now... You got us all to the surface, you broke the vase Tori bought when you were chasing Frisk, had a marathon of anime with Alphys and Undyne..."

Sans continued to speak about the good and funny little moments you had, and eventually, your tension eased. You were asleep in minutes, and Sans soon followed. Both of you were cuddled close, refusing to let go.

Bonus:

Papyrus walked up to the room, and saw you laying on Sans' chest, his arm wrapped around your waist and his hand in your hair. The tall skeleton took a picture and posted it on the internet, having learnt from you how to use it.

In 5 minutes, it had gotten 15k views and 200 likes. Papyrus was smirking, and he knew you would regret teaching him how to post stuff online.
