Finding Shaya was easy, he was in his room as Cassius said.

"What do you have in mind?" Shaya asks Inigo.

"I have no idea, I'm just not allowed to do magic, by the way, what does 'burs-aka' mean?"

"It's pronounced 'byr' then 'sukah' really fast, 'byrsu'ka', it literally translates from Azuralite as 'castable'. Azuralite is spoken often in Arcane class, some say it was because the language was built upon arcane magic, but no one knows for sure as there is not much on Azuralite culture from before the war."

"Your knowledge astounds me, I've never learned Azuralite-ish."

Shaya laughs. "Azuralite doesn't require '-ish' adding to it, it hits the ear wrong."

"Isn't that confusing? Because how would you know if I was talking about the language or an Azuralite... Person... Or whatever... Do you know what I mean?"

"Yeah, I understand." Shaya chuckles. "I'd know by the context. For example, 'It's hard to speak Azuralite', and 'Did you know? He is Azuralite'. Not really a hard code to crack. Maybe you think too much."

Inigo chuckles back. "I have been told that before."

"What's the deal with you not being able to cast?" Shaya says lying back onto his bed.

Inigo shifts uncomfortably on his friend's chair, trying to be careful not to move any of Shaya's mess on the floor or draped on the back of the chair. "I..." He begins, 'Am I allowed to tell people what just happened? He didn't tell me not to. How would Cassius find out if I had? Is it the best idea to? Will Shaya think I'm weird?' "I... Cast dark magic."

"WhatNoHow? Tell me how you did it!" Shaya exclaims.

"I don't know how I just... Master Rhodes tried to get me to cast nature magic and instead of growing some dumb flowers I apparently sucked the life out of everything around me, the grass, the tree branches, the flowers all turned to black and crumbles at the touch."

"What were you trying to do?"

"'Communicate' or become 'one with nature'... Instead, I try to kill Cass... Master Rhodes when I try to fix the first problem I created."

"I can see why you have a casting ban now. What do you mean tried to kill Master Rhodes."

"I don't know, I had my eyes closed and he wouldn't tell me all I saw was that he fell from mid-air, and he was gasping for breath like he couldn't breathe. Maybe coming here was a bad idea." 'Yeah, definitely sounds like a bad idea coming here.'

"They don't teach Dark magic till the second year and even then you aren't allowed to cast anything till the third. From what I've read, you have to change the mana within yourself for it to have a 'knock-on' effect, making it easier for one to change life-force. In your case, to absorb or deplete life-force from the surrounding area, regardless of higher or lesser lifeforms. To do that you must not only connect, but overpower, this takes an abundant amount of mana. Like a crazy amount of mana... And you did that twice?"

"No, it was different the second time but I don't know how Master Rhodes didn't tell what actually happened. After the first time, I felt revitalised. I didn't feel drained like I did the second."

"I'm sure you did, absorbing life-force is supposed to give a feeling of euphoria as well as having replenished all of the natural mana from whatever you have drained."

"Isn't it wrong to drain the life-force from something?"

"Yes, and no." Shaya scratches his head but before continuing Inigo cuts in.
