The winter air chills my bones as we stand on the front steps, trying to figure out just how far my powers can go. I sigh in frustration. I can barely get my wires to wrap around the pine tree, let alone the tiny can without crushing it.
"What's the point of this?" I grumble, complaining to Blue.
"The point is that you'll be able to grab things. Or save them midair or something. Just try it." Blue attempts to encourage me to attempt his little experiment, although as I make a second attempt it only tires me our further.
I try again and again, but each attempt only leaves me more and more worn out. I sigh, and let the wires drop down by my side.
"Just one more time." Blue encourages. "One more time, and we'll call it quits, alright?" He tries his best to encourage me, but I feel as though I may never really get the hang of these powers. I mean, I just discovered that I have powers all over again, and it's slightly difficult to be honest to actually learn how to control them.
I take in a deep breath, trying to really prepare myself for one last attempt. I look back at Blue, and he smiles and give me a thumbs up.
He has way too much faith in me, I think. But I try to lift the tiny soup can again.
This time I try something different, something I hadn't thought of before. This time I try thinking about them as less like wires and more like my hands. I wrap them around the can, picturing myself picking it up, and-
I open my eyes to see that I managed to lift up the can.
Blue cheers me on. "I know you could do it." He runs up to me and hugs me, granting me a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Uhh...Blue?" I ask.
"Yeah?" He replies.
Then he notices that my hands have just turned from a glowing blue to a glowing white, reminding me if the perfect, stainless white that was the white space I lived in before Blue came to get me.
Suddenly, a large white hole appears in front of us and starts sucking us in. I cling onto Blue for dear life, hoping at the very least that we won't get separated.
The portal finally pulls us all the way through.
