When we all sat down patiently and started eating like any other normal human being, (except for the fact that I was positively drained. Using my abilities exhaust me a lot.)
Nina reached into her bag (a simple purple bag that contained more items than you think). I immediately heard a 'thunk'.
As if nothing was out of ordinary, Nina brought out a huge book as big as an old dictionary (or thicker).
I gaped at the pure size of the book that just appeared out of the bag. Before she opened her mouth, Ast incredulity asked, "Do you honestly expect us to read all that?" Nina just sighed and took her phone out.
She opened a strange app written in an unrecognizable language. Using her phone, she scanned the bar-code on the back of the humongous book (her legs pressured by the pure weight of the book).
Then she smiled and took her sweet time, perfectly knowing this part was our favorite time. "Awwww hurry up Ninz" I drawled, earning a dirty look from the "Ninz". Then I heard a faint 'beep'.Miraculously, the phone swallowed the book. All sorts of headlines popped up on the screen such as; random facts of Violet Kang, History, Present state, Signs you are favored by Violet, etc.
Like I mentioned before, Nina (cough Ninz) and Astley (he prefers Ast) aren't normal human beings. They have the extraordinary ability of being annoying. Just kidding. (But technically that is true..)
They have special abilities like me, however different. Ninz....sorry, Nina is an Analyser. Analysers, like their name suggests, can easily analyse an object or person. This is more awesome than it sounds like. For instance, when our beloved Nina looks at a person (or an object), she can see information about them e.g. A is hungry, B's current emotions, C's weight, height, grades, worries, etc etc.
This used to drive her crazy when we were little, as she couldn't control her overwhelming ability (her ability was even stronger compared to former generations) which meant TMI (too much information) for her all the time. (there were more than one occasions when she unintentionally saw/heard a negative opinion about herself)Now, Nina has almost perfect control of her ability which meant, if she wanted, she could read someone's mind.
Of course, she doesn't do that often as 'there are things better not seen' (quote Nina). She can look at a thing (living and non-living) and get the basic information of it (normally more than that), however her ability works best on people.
Nina describes her ability as having a personal internet explorer except it is always accurate and doesn't require internet.
So back to the current situation. What she's doing now is summoning a book about the 'choking girl'. She can do that by touching a person. (very useful to have. However, it gets scary when the target is me. Once she got so mad at me and read out all my secrets to my parents)This particular skill made old Analysers very good readers, and most of them still are great readers and enjoy reading. But for convenience, phones were adjusted for this ability. The app she was using is written in the language of Analysers, and we wouldn't be able to read the info without permission from an Analyser.
Anyway. With no one conveniently not noticing three totally-normal teens who had just evaporated a book into nothing and were reading this weird text in codes.Together, we flicked through useless information about the delightful Violet Kang. We paused at the headline 'Relationships'. It said she had a perfectly fine and happy, supportive family (good news) and a family friend she'd known since she was three.
But when we kept reading on, we found out all her close friends had left her for various reasons. She liked to have few close friends, but she considered many people 'okay' and occasionally talked to them. (nothing deep)
As she went to a different high school with her friends from intermediate, she was forced to make new friends. Again. I looked around and saw Nina frowning and Ast looking confused. I read on. Her relationships were seemingly stable, but she feels like they were getting distant each time. She was sick of matching herself to her friends when she gets nothing in return. She thinks herself as insignificant and forgotten, such as a filling role in a play.
