With the spell wiped away from her back when Vex picked her up from the bed, Lia was now fully aware of her surroundings. The early morning wind blew harshly past her hair, making it fly across her face. The sun has not yet glowed fully across the landscape yet. She was chilled by the morning air that would slip in past the thick comforter wrapped around her tightly. The cold air brought her more to her senses, made everything more clear and slightly frightening.
It was slightly startled waking up to this.
Vex sprinting faster than she has ever seen him up the street. His run was not silent like before as his feet cracked and scratched the surface under them. It left a noticeable trail behind him, birds perched were quick to flee from his path. Letting him propel himself farther and faster than before. She could feel the inertia as he took quick turns. But the firm grip that Vex had on her made her feel safe.
But why was she with Vex out hear so far away from home?
When did they get out here?
Why is he running?
Vex took another quick turn into a dark alley that has yet to be lit by the rising sun. With his dark fur and the dark color of the comforter they were nearly invisible.
Vex pressed himself against the wall and let Lia sit on his knee. He kept an ear out for any sound, anything that threatened to take Lia away from him. Like James. He wanted to check on Lia before he headed to the bridge, her fear was also catching the attention of other wolves.
He could tell my the sound of the sirens.
She looked down, the distance to the ground made her move closer to Vex. Heights used to not scare her, but lately they have.
"Why are we out here?"
Vex's large clawed hand tilted her chin up to him and his empty sockets looked into hers. He took in all her features, every detail that Lia had that made her his perfect gem...
His divine rose.
She looked back. Vex chose to take in her face at that moment. He could see the cluelessness in her eyes. Her cute little eyebrows were pulled together in worry. Her lips slightly parted. Vex could feel her heart racing, the fear coming from her was leaking into the air and filling his nostrils. Her eyes were rimmed with small tears.
She was not ready.
Vex wrapped her up in the comforter again making sure she wouldn't be bothered by the wind. Confused she resisted a little, she couldn't decipher his thought with his wendigo skull face.
"Vex?"
She wouldn't be ready by the time they reached the bridge either.
He slipped his hand to her back between her shoulders, nicking his finger with one of his sharp claws, drawing blood from it.
"What's wrong Vex?" She whimpered.
He drew a new spell circle onto her back, and as predicted she fell forward unconscious. Vex then wrapped her more securely into the comforter, to ensure nothing of her were to slip out and get hit by the brush or the buildings as he ran.
He was going to get more than a couple weeks in hell for this.
But it was more than worth it.
Vex should've known. Even if they weren't in their current situation. If he had walked her there in the cool winter evening with his hand wrapped around hers. She still would take more time before she was ready. Vex wasn't dumb, he had healed her and now she wouldn't want to take her own life. She won't admit it, but he knew that she was no longer suicidal.
