I looked back for Millie as we crossed the road, seeing a car. But it wasn't stopping. Millie was now crossing the road and then I caught glimpse of the person inside that car.

Hussain.

Before i could make another move I heard the helpless cry of Millie as Hussain hit her. She was taken completely by surprise as she lost her balance, collapsing side ways on her left leg. in a way she shouldn't have fell on her leg. Her face was hidden by her hair.

I rushed straight over to Millie hearing Hussain stopping the car, giving it a harsh break.

I dropped to my knees by her panicked. "Millie! Millie are you okay?!" I breathed, she didn't move.

"Oh shit oh shit, Millie" I said sounding wobbly. I shook her but still she didn't move. I carefully pushed her upright and moved her hair out of her face. She was unconscious. a thousand emotions were going through my head and i didn't know how to function. I couldn't think straight and i felt sick to my stomach of what had just happened to Millie.

I carried on trying to wake Millie hearing Hussain getting out of the car and walking over to me.

"hm, what she gets" Hussain huffed. I stood up walking over to Hussain seizing hold of his neck.

"look at what the fuck you've done! your so sick! your..fuck!" I shouted.

"Hands to your self Blake. This is just the start. you watch what happens next. Best take care of her now" Hussain said prying my hand of his neck. He stepped back with a evil smirk on his face.

He started making his way back to his car. I watched his every move, all the way wanting to badly wipe that grin of his face and make him pay for every thing he'd made Millie go through.

I watched him reverse and drive away. Once he was out of Distance I sank back down onto my knees and gently pulled Millie into my lap cradling her. I held her small wrist checking for a pulse, and i was so relieved when i felt it.

I worked out by now she'd broken her leg. I didn't want to cause anymore damage so i waited a couple moments trying to steady myself before i pulled out my phone and dialled for 999.

After struggling to get my words for a while i'd managed to call for an ambulance.

I was sat in the waiting room whilst Millie was having her X ray done. Thankfully she was okay and woke up shortly after she reached the hospital.

I slowly got up from my chair and stepped outside the room. I pulled out my phone and went to Emily's contact. I waited for a while as I stood and stared at it, leaning my head on the wall.

I took a deep breath and shakily tapped "call".

It rang and rang and then went to voicemail. I groaned ending the call. How was I going to tell her now? In fact, how would I even tell her.

Suddenly I felt my phone vibrate. I looked down at it and felt relief seeing a text message from Emily.

Emily
Why are you calling me? I'm in class ffs.

Oh, that was right. At this time people would be in classes right now, millie had a free period.

I started texting back.

Luke
Can you please step outside or something? It's an emergency.

I waited after I sent the message. I didn't get a reply but instead I got a call from Emily. I quickly answered it.

"Hello, What's the emergency" Emily said.

"I..um" I gulped. "I'm in the hospital right now" I said.

"What? Why? Are you okay?" She asked frantically.

"Yeah yeah I'm fine but um..im here with Millie.." I tailed off.

"Millie? Oh my god is she okay?" Emily panicked.

"Emily please calm down..it was Hussain..we were going to get a coffee and then Hussain just randomly started speeding up the road and before I could do anything he hit Millie..she's got a broken leg.." I explained. I felt out of breath.

"Hussain what! Luke what the fuck! Which fucking ward are you in, im coming!" Emily shouted of the other end.

I quietly told her the details and then said bye, instead I didn't get one back and she ended the call. I felt even guiltier than before. why did these things have to always happen. I sighed and made my way back to the waiting room to wait for Emily

45 minutes later I felt my phone vibrate again. I looked at the screen.

Emily

I just got to the hospital.

Emily

wait out in the corridor for me please.

i texted back.

Luke

Sure, i'm going now

I got up stepping outside the waiting room again and staring down the busy corridor. A couple minutes passed till i caught a glimpse of the short brown haired girl. She walked towards me and in a matter of minutes she reached me.

She didn't say hi or anything, Instead just stood there crossed arms. "I hate you" she huffed.

I let out a sigh. "Hey, i know you do. lets not start anything here please. come on outside" I said, without hesitation she started exiting the building. I followed.

The weather didn't seem the best today. It was quite grey and gloomy, it didn't help the situation. I shivered from the wind. "So much for protecting her, huh?" Emily scoffed. she walked towards me with an expressionless face.

"where the hell is she" she angrily said.

"she's having an X-ray. you need to calm down" I said.

she sarcastically laughed. "Don't tell me to calm down Luke".

She was just about to walk right pass me back into the building when i decided to put my arm in front the door, i'd been quiet long enough. I grabbed her by her shoulders, not to rough that i hurt her though. I made her face me.

"As if i don't feel guilty enough already". I kept her there, continuing to talk.

"You going in there angry is only going to stress her out, you need to be calm".

"Fine, just let me go..god have you ever heard of personal space" She said rolling her eyes.

I moved away from her and apologised under my breath. She didn't look at me once and went straight back into the building, while I stayed outside thinking about what just happened.

In a way this was my fault so Emily had the right to be treating me like this. But it was true, Hussain was capable of many many things. All of this had just gotten a whole lot worse then I thought.

I sighed loudly, leaning my head against the wall. I felt so empty yet so unstable. For some reason I felt like the way I used to feel when I was so stressed out with everything.

I slowly dug my hands into my pockets and fumbled around retrieving with a lighter and a pack of cigarettes. I didn't ever smoke, and Millie had made me quit. I used to smoke a long time back.

At times when I was really stressed millie let me off and let me have a cigarette. I felt like I needed one now. It was a bad habit, but it calmed me down.
